  1. not sure if this has been celebrated much but pretty sure interals.icu was beta tested here by @davidtinker edit: yes here it is
  2. It's well above inflation, but there are other drivers behind what goes into it. https://www.inflationtool.com/south-african-rand/2015-to-present-value As I always say, it is a charity event after all.
  3. for those looking at the cost of the event, I found this list I posted 2 years ago and updated it 2025 895 5% 2024 850 13% 2023 750 15% 2022 650 9% 2021 595 8% 2020 550 2% 2019 540 6% 2018 510 9% 2017 470 0% 2016 470 9% 2015 430 plus one. my kids loved that.
  4. not sure if it's a good reference, but Argus allows the stoker to ride the year they turn 11. they are allowed to ride the full event on their own bike the year they turn 13. back in the old days, kids as young as 8 where doing the entire 105km, but that's another story
  5. How does seeding work for this? no tandem info here https://www.capetowncycletour.com/seeding-faqs/ Does the captain carry seeding into the mix alone, or do they categorise both together, so a newb brings in zero points and the index is doubled?? I signed up for pedalpower again because that seemed like a good idea startbatch wise. it seems the only viable seeding event left is winelands
  6. Mason has come a long way from a simple no fuss bike shop in matieland.
  7. for the second year in a row, HBomb's birthday HAD TO BE AT THE BIKEPARK! He challenged this dad to dual slalom racing series. He did not lose but as a paid up member he has serious local knowledge. then his actual family with cousins was supposed to come back the next day, that got rained out. it remains an awesome place for kids to hang out, love seeing all shapes, ages and sizes there
  8. You can claim the VAT back on your n+1 bike purchases? Awesome!
  9. I have done 25+ Argusses. which means I have probably seen it all. I have done the ride in jeanpant, on a fixie, with a lifejacket, charity buggy, carrying a blowup doll for a batchelors (not all the same year). Next year I am doing it with my 10yr old bikebevok laaitie slipstreaming and soft pedalling my efforts. We have the entry, but not the bike (yet). I know there will be endless "the kid on the back isn't pedalling" chirps. Beyond that, i know zip about riding tandems. this thread is more about the couple tandem vibe. The best thing about the Argus, I still have more to learn! I searched, and there doesn't seem to be much info on going from a competent biker to a tandem captain with your preteen kid on the back. Surely there are many many who have gone down this route, and plenty who did it in the Argus too. Share your knowledge people! Share your knowledge people!
  10. no no, Formosa is Plett!
  11. speak to these guys https://breedekloof.com/mtb-routes/ says closed, might be back up and running by now. https://www.dtkwines.com/mtb-trail
  12. it's still in 24" rigid mode, but has kickass bigger volume tyres now. Wheels, hubs and stuff need to be swapped, and that takes time.
  13. 2h20 is quite slow for a half marathon, sounds like a fun run!
  14. how's that working out for you?!!
  15. Not everyone here has internet that works, Telkom adsl still a thing. We just got bottle stores the other day too. *jokes aside, lots of people ride through here, you have done the right thing but the chances of the owner finding you are slim, claim the freebie!
  16. anyone able to ADD a person on their system? trying to enter as a tandem just keeps on returning errors and refershing. not refreshing
  17. wow. just wow. I shouldn't be surprised at that number, but I am. So two demo models going cheep cheep soon?
  18. the entry portal is open. I was able to get as far as entering myself. but since I will have an eligible kid on the tandem behind me, the thing kept on crashing trying to put his details in. I will come back later.
  19. what a champ!
  20. That would be cool, they probably should have highlighted this exact reason because of the Eid dates but maybe it's not possible for some reason that doesn't make sense to logically minded thinking. WHAT? Who allocates the sub3 finishes?! I'll take 2!! common sense would dictate that there will be a separate category, it won't count for seeding and you def won't be able to do this and the actual race on the day.
  21. I didn't find a thread running, and entries open today for 10+ finishers. GREAT news, they have sponsors. Std Bank and Liberty come on board. That is a brilliant development.
  22. why even ride? digitalepo all the way
  23. seems like it's not universally popular, sums up my opinion perfectly
  24. the fight to be the 4 best CX rider is probably the most competitive thing in world cycling
  25. shot for finding tracking page. so just the four people, and looks like Lance only left at midnight anyway! the loop through cape town is a bit odd, some potential issues with silvermine at night/after gate hours.
