  1. Ah, that seems too obvious! Thanks for the find. No specific reason, either a bug in our implementation or something the forum developers missed. Either way we'll check it out.
  2. Thanks for reporting it, we'll dig into the cause. If it happens again please could you screenshot it or share a link to the replied to post with us via help@bikehub.co.za. That may help in narrowing down when it happens.
  3. Could you please share which ad this was, either here on via PM? We'll investigate to ensure nothing is disappearing into cyberspace. Although in your case Phone number isn't listed, as a general note, the Leads count does include views of your phone number which of course may not be actioned in a call or message.
  4. Apologies for the wait, winners will be announced in an article tomorrow before 12h00.
  5. It's a bit of a hack at the moment, you have to click on "More Reply Options" then you can upload. (We're working on that)
  6. Wow, some serious OGs on here. Crazy to think it's been nearly 16 years! New members per annum: That can be arranged!
  7. Moderator note: Please visit the existing "Coronavirus General Discussion" thread for general discussion around the virus, lockdown, etc. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/184638-coronavirus-general-discussion/ Let's keep this discussion related to the PPA and other related submissions to government with regards to cycling and the bicycle industry. Further off-topic posts will be removed.
  8. They do have a quick quote generator on their site: https://quotes.jasure.com/ I've gotten quotes and insured items via the App and it was pretty painless.
  9. Unfortunately it was only available for 24 hours, but is seems GT will release segments of it over the coming weeks. In the mean time check out Anthill Films who are also screening their movies free for limited period each week: https://anthillfilms.com/blog/2019/07/16/return-to-earth-watch-for-free

  11. I'll start things off. Say hello to my very stock standard 2019 Specialized Epic Expert Evo. Might be time for a new tyre and some rim decals... emergency plug of a hole right on the bead. It's held up pretty well.
  12. Tips - Uploading photos To attach photos to your forum post hit the “More reply options” button below (only available in desktop mode). Or click here. Attach your photos using the uploader and hit the “Add to post” button if you’d like to insert the image in a specific position in your post (image code will be added at the cursor position).
  13. These issues should be resolved now, but let us know if you're still having trouble.
  14. Much to our disappointment there were NO bikes present at the event. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled at Epic...
  15. They are. We attended an event yesterday where they spoke about their Epic participation. It sounds like Covid-19 will make the rest of their season interesting (e.g. they were due to spend a few weeks in Italy post Epic ).
  16. Unfortunately not for 2020. We've got our hands a little full with other projects, but hope to revisit this event and project in future.
  17. We're not ignoring the feedback and calls for the return of comments. We know that removing them risked the loss of an element of community and it's something we're still acutely aware of. Like most things there are many sides to the story and here we have to balance the needs of multiple parties, and as far as possible, offer for solutions to the challenges that each experience. Comments undoubtedly helped in some instances, for example in identifying scammers or pointing out a specification issue. But with the good came some bad and what was helpful in some instances was damaging in others, either through outright abuse of the comment facility or, more commonly, through misuse and misunderstanding. Here is some insight into the key factors behind removal of comments on ads. Too many communication channels We'd had feedback from many sellers that communication with interested parties on Bike Hub was cumbersome and created confusion.... too many channels between comments, PM, email, phone, etc. Private conversations in public Upon reviewing the content of comments on ads we found that more than 50% of them would have been more appropriate via PM e.g. "Will you accept RX", "I'm interested, please contact me via...." Problematic ads received comments, but weren't reported Often ads which should have been removed outright and the user banned (e.g. scammers, fake items) went unreported remaining online. Damaging comments Opinions on pricing, value and everything else can be subjective and in this way comments were open to abuse. There were cases were such comments or simply the risk of them occurring drove away legitimate sellers. This is not to say that the outright removal of comments is the only way forward. It was a decision taken by us having considered many factors. It was also one taken knowing that it wasn't the perfect solution, but was one we believed to be the better of the two options and by all objective measures (core metrics & analytics) it has been successful. But of course we can't only look at the data... the Bike Hub experience is key. From the feedback here and elsewhere it seems comments on ads were deemed useful in these areas: Advising sellers (and warning other buyers) of spec issues Advising sellers (and warning other buyers) of over pricing Clarifying missing or incomplete specifications (Q&A) Identifying fake goods or scammers Wishing sellers well Entertaining banterThat isn't an exhaustive list so please add anything I've missed. #1 and #3 are useful, we won't argue this. Both could be addressed via a PM or report to us, but there is merit in the immediacy of a comment.#2 is subjective. Willing buyer, willing seller. Our feeling is that the market will decide on what's reasonable, overpriced items will sit for longer... and even without comments they do. #4 is important, but ultimately such ads should be removed altogether. Rather than comments we'd prefer to look at a Classifieds moderation layer which empowers appointed, trustworthy users to remove such items.#5 is nice for community spirit but for a time pressed seller might be considered as "noise"#6 - classifieds is not the place for this.I welcome your thoughts, ideas and any further feedback around comments.
  18. You shouldn't need to use the advanced search as the default "simple search" will search titles only. That was just in response to Shebeen's query. I have just tested and note that a forum search from the home page is currently returning weird results as you experienced, we'll see what's going on there.
  19. You can still access the "Advanced Search" via the Forums > Search the forums link (it was going to the wrong place, this has now been fixed.) Here is the link: https://community.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=core&module=search But yes, forum search in general is in dire need of improvement.... #changeiscoming
  20. The issue related to ads on the home page should be fixed now. Ctrl + F5 or CMD + R would have fixed it as HdB suggested, but we've made an update to ensure this isn't necessary going forward. Regarding search, we do know search in the forums is not great: it's always been unreliable and slow. Oddly when searching "update" I do find this thread as the first result. It will be vastly improved with the forum platform update due in the early part of this year. If it's still not working this may be unrelated to the issue above. Older versions of the built in Samsung browser don't play nicely with our site, however Chrome should be installed by default and should work fine.
  21. PPA, CTCT & WP Cycling split off into a separate thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/184594-ppa-ctct-and-wp-cycling/
  22. Hi Bruce, Please could you share the phone number and any other details of the Tanzania based guy with us via help@bikehub.co.za
  23. Hi guys, We did block the "Denysbio" user and some others yesterday, but unfortunately not before they could fire off a few emails.
  24. Sorry to hear that you've both been caught by this guy He's made a re-appearance today under the name "Andrew McDonald" selling a Thule rack in JHB.
