  1. Fun Gaalens, very apt.... Going to have to explore again, well overdue!
  2. Trackies will enjoy this ...
  3. Chopper
  4. That it does ... saw a really bad crash on the Spruit the other day, Delta Park. Oldish guy had hit one of the jumps and somehow klapped the tree, the gashes were really bad. Lots of skin grafts, and one gash you could actually see the muscle tissue! Definite hospital visit! Not nice coming across a scene like that!
  5. Decent enough tyres, became well known here when Cycles Africa started importing them a while back. 3.0 Nokian Gazzalodis were monstrous.
  6. Theres a paddle club there, why not ask them? Ama dub dub duzi or something like that.
  7. Good for you, important to push your goals as newcomer to the sport. Keep it up and you'll find yourself improving in no time. Never mind the sour pusses, the world needs even those things.
  8. Have ridden a number of bikes, both 29r and 26r, expensive and entry level. Fact it there are fundamental differences between the two, each having their own characteristics relatively speaking. It comes down to what works best for you and your riding, on both there are specs and geometry that affect the overall feel of the bike. That chestnut that 29rs only perform on flat open dirt roads is bull, yes they excel on that kind of terrain but very many models perform as well on rocky rooted single track as well. The 29r isn't hype, is there marketing hype, of course. Not withstanding though they have opened up a new area for riding in addition to 26r bikes. Theres a place for both on their merits/models and what the individual will be comfortable on. It really isn't a "vs" argument, horses for courses.
  9. The way you're going on you're as bad as the problem you're going on about. Relax already, think everyone got your point the first time.
  10. Bottega or Espressos, normally pretty chilled, same with the Sat rides. Although the post ride socialising can get out of hand ,,,,,,, ahem
  11. Would be weary of drilling a hole in a carbon frame, think it should be done with a bit of care at the least. Ali or steel frames, don't see why not. Couple of the manufacturers do it anyway. Reckon the drainage would be more than any form of ingress which could occur on any number of areas on a frame anyway. This was discussed at length before though. I need a beer now, cheersh... ehrm, cheers.
  12. Was very good. Great camera work and editing. Narrator needs to change though, good voice over would definitely work!
  13. No knobit ... ahem, Parkhurst Coffee Rider Society Should've invited you to our ride from Groenies yesterday, mates Kim and Pepe, myself did a nice 3 1/2 hour ride with two of the Pretoria locals, Chris and Johan, through Groenkloof, part of Fountains and then the Monument. This weekend is van Gaalen is you're keen?
  14. Maybe tomorrow princess, otherwise theres the PCRS night ride on Wed.
  15. Hell man, what a bunch of bitchy snipey pricks out there. It's not quite my personal cup of tea, but she sure a beaut and an impressive piece of engineering. Clearly put some thought into it, many happy miles on it ti dude! As for the remarks about the rigid fork, there are a number of riders with fully rigid singlespeeds remember. Who've done a number of hard races, some with top finishes. Freedom challenge for example and the solo cat at the 24hr.
  16. Just remember, when getting a number of quotes. A few of the major insurers belong to the same holding company. For example http://www.telesure.co.za/brands.html
  17. Ditto, for all the criticism leveled at CSA, the system is working and we're slowly getting towards a proper seeding system ....
  18. Did you try the most obvious as well? http://www.cgcycling.co.za/DisplayLink.aspx?group=About%20CGC&name=Contact%20Us
  19. You want your shop door kicked? ...
  20. It was not. So happened I had to photograph the bike on a trail and studio shots. As I had a shoot with Tread Mag the same day, I killed two birds with one stone and they assisted me with getting the trail shots I needed. So it wasn't a test perse, not to say there wont be either though, more of a preview if anything. Having said that, myself and the guy who rode the A90 were pleasantly surprised by it for the short period we had it. Good spec, alloy frame and relatively decent parts and looks nice. They are specced and designed by the same guys who worked on the Raleigh/Nomad range previously, so there is a carry over of experience and backup. It's a competitive segment in the market, after all, the brands listed by the OP are all good value for money on the entry level point. For the use he describes any one of them will do really, boils down to which the buyer feels more of an affinity for.
  21. Don't be so quick to talk out of context. That was a small batch with a manufacturing fault that Raleigh very quickly replaced, remember? One of my riding partners still has his Raleigh RC frame after many miles.
  22. Really have come to value Epic Pro .... Expensive, but then again it does last me quite a while and did score a freebie from a mate who does work for them. Also had some of those sample packs of NutrLife from the Expo, now my regular morning brekkie!
  23. Would imagine so, although couldn't possibly speak on anyone's behalf. Readership and advertising demand though, is still heavily print driven. Especially in niche segments like this. While there's a definite (growing) demand for 'online' or 'digital' it does still require resources and budget, more so if it's to be done properly.
  24. Hard work always pays off. Been watching Sean and Jo working on and keeping the mag afloat with pure passion, all whilst still doing other work and family life as well. Might be biased and not to detract from contributors, but well well well, deserved and will definitely take the pressure for sales, print, distribution, ad sales etc etc etc .... All of that was essentially Seans & Jo working from home, often 16hr days to get the mag out each issue, with the help of various freelance contributors. Good job!
  25. Sounds like you're starting to moan
