  1. Nice stuff. Sport duffel too small though and cargo duffel on wheels. I'll keep looking. Mailed gearup and await their response. Saw some nice North Face bags some time back at Due South but they dont seem to do them anymore.
  2. The Cape Union Mart bag is really nice just its on wheels. Cool if you want wheels which can be handy but I just want a plain bag.
  3. Tried that a while back but found Bicicletta communication a bit poor. Nice bag though.
  4. Thanks, will check it out.
  5. I'm looking for a bike gear bag of around 100l to keep a set of bike gear ready to go. Bag needs to have 2 big side pockets (helmet and shoes) and have some little pockets inside for bits n pieces. Would double up as a stage race bag. Found something in Cape Union but its on wheels which I dont really want. Anyone seen anything or have anything that might fit the description?
  6. Nothing yet but could think of them being useful in the Camelbak.
  7. My 2 front teeth.
  8. Spend 6k on a decent mid-range used hardtail. Keep the balance for any upgrades u might need. Get into the sport, ride, learn to love it, see what everyone else is riding and invariably you will want to upgrade. Look for good basics, descent wheels, brakes, groupset and that the frame is your right size. A good fork too. Should be able to find a good bike like this in classifieds.
  9. Every school will claim to have a strict anti-doping policy. I'm all for professional and elite athletes receiving lifetime bans but unsure what sanction would be appropriate for a school kid. I know you're pretty mature and know what you are doing at that age but we've all done stoopid stuff when we were younger.
  10. Will mail the rest in the morning. Anyone know where one could place these excel files for people to download? A dropbox of sorts.
  11. Still have them. Have mailed to a couple of guys who sent me their addresses.
  12. There was a good Polar training spreadsheet doing the rounds a few years back. HRM based. PM me your email address and I'll send it. (hope I still have it)
  13. Oh my word, a 27.5!? Is that not misrepresentation?
  14. Not an expert but it seems your diet plan is not mated to your training plan. Have you considered seeing a specialist who combines your diet with your training. There are a fee of these guys on the hub.
  15. There was quite a bit of tension from landowners towards cyclists riding in the cane fields. Has this been resolved?
  16. All Shimano calipers are inerchangeable. Slap on the Deore's.
  17. I have just done the same exercise. I have chosen Hopes as I like the fact that you can rebuild them. They also have great feel and are fully adjustable. Shimano XTs are plug and play and reputedly bullet proof. No spares and less modulation so not as much feel but are supposedly more powerful. You wouldnt go wrong with either.
  18. I'll be in Umhlanga and will be doing Holla regularly. Still getting back onto the bike so if you are keen on some shorter technical stuff I can show you a few trails. My wife will be trying to get back in the saddle too. Giba is great too but further to drive.
  19. I have the same trailer but with the bits you are looking for. Please pm me your email address and I'll take some photos for you.
  20. If you're quick you can be the first to do a real 27.5" and can market a whole new bike. You'll make millyuns!
  21. Get hold of Brett from Swazi Frontier. He might be able to help.
  22. Rightly or wrongly it does put a responsibilty on team mates for their team's doping practices. Perhaps if you know your mate's doping will cost you your team ride team members would be more vigilant and active in rooting out this scourge from what is their livelihood.
  23. That is the question. I've seen serious agro and near punch ups between guys who are just in front of the sweeper scrambler. WTF? What lengths would somebody like that go to in order to push themselves up the results table? I have no idea but wouldnt be surprised if it is happening.
  24. Not dissing the bloke but that's hardly accreditation. It's good for our sport though and would be great if all these guys offering training could formalise and provide some form of accreditation.
