  1. How is the full susser on the trainer? Do you lock the shock?
  2. Why 1.5m? That's a helluva gap. Why not 1.0 or 0.75?
  3. Brilliant. I don't understand why bicycles are not required to carry visibilty equipment like other roadgoing vehicles. Or are they. Reflective bibs, reflectors, lights, etc have such a poor rep amongst cyclists. These things can help reduce accidents even in daylight.
  4. RIP. Very sad news.
  5. Yebo, it is damn hot. Also dont underestimate a 20 k ride. Its a lot tougher than that.
  6. Parked in far left, close to the bikewash. Sorry to have missed you. Had my arse kicked by blue. Great ride but probably should have done green to start off, especially in this heat.
  7. Heading out on blue which was recommended.
  8. I plan to be there just after 7. Slow ride to get back into things. I drive a white Discovery 3.
  9. These people were just a caring bunch. Very concerned that you were spending bucks on your bike and not on your dog.
  10. A lot better than handing them out to paedophiles with bad dress sense.
  11. Andy, do a search for Hekpoort and Breedts Nek. Plenty of info on these forums, maps too I think. I'm sure there are also gpx files on garmin connect.
  12. Got a quote from my optometrist. R6k! Crumbs. My Med Aid has shown me the middle finger.
  13. I've bought and sold a bike there. No problems. Prices agreed online and paid via eft bothways and both times goods were to agreement. no BS. Very surprised by this incident. Not cool.
  14. Reminds me of a song from way back.
  15. I see a Russian Marathon Walker has been banned for life. Draw a line in the sand. Any UCI affiliated rider tests positive post 1 January, 2013 will lose their racing licence idefinitely.
  16. 3 big cheap clocks presuming start, finish and inbetween. Take a digital pic of each rider going though each stage with clock visible. Photocards get given to the responsible person to input board nos and time. You get a bonus action pic.
  17. Not sure about your boils. Have however had pretty bad saddle sores on a stage race. What helped me in events post that was showering, drying properly, cleaning with surgical spirits and then putting lube (milking balm, assos, whatever) on. Make sure you do your toilet trip prior to showering.
  18. You touch your phone whilst driving and you lose. R500 fine a couple of years back for ending a call whilst I was on a hands free earpiece. Was in black and white on a little laminated board the Metro Crook pulled out. He was fishing for a bribe and I wouldn't bite. What made it worse is that in my pee'ed off haste I forgot my driver's licence on his clipboard. Expensive day.
  19. You make a good point. Unfortunately thehub has a history of people trying to resolve cyclists vs residents vs motorists in the Cradle. There have been activists, general meetings, action groups etc. If cycling clubs are still pissing motorists off who clearly see the flip side of the argument, there is clearly no hope for the cycling fraternity who make use of these roads. Organising massive groups to raise awareness will do sweet f all. I truly sympathise with road cyclists having to go to these extremes to do what they love.
  20. Nah, keep crooks out.
  21. Norman, I have the Race with Zebra lenses. The lenses dont get dark enough and after a long ride my eyes ache from the business of an orange lens. By contrast Oakley and Rudy lenses seem to cool your vision. The frames themselves are nice and comfortable and fit my face well. The optical insert fits nicely but does tend to fog up. I contacted Julbo who recommended Chzmeleon lenses and that I go to their website for a local agent. Agent deals with Julbo kids glasses but can ask for alternate lenses for me. Not the way I want to go about trying to get good vision for my eyes. Once you stick opticals onto any sunnies you totally change the ballgame. I have a problem with spending 5-6k on optical sunglasses that can get scratched and trashed after 1 ride. Would love to find decent sports frames that I could put standard prescription, tinted or transition lenses in. *you cannot drive with transition lenses as the windscreen cuts out the uv which is required to darken the lens. Also, uv protection and eye comfort are 2 different things.
  22. Definitely. I use 2 pods (lungo) and a shot of water (lungo) to make a mug of Americano.
  23. Anyone have experience with the Rydon's with optical inserts in wet weather. My Julbos fog up terribly. I'm tempted to drill holes in the lens so that they ventilate the optical inserts.
  24. Yup, take it easy and listen to your body. All the best with the recovery.
  25. Good stuff. On the flip side I asked my Oncologist about doing J2C next year. Of course, sure was hir response. Have since spoken to a few others including a hubber doctor snd it seems its not such a good idea.
