  1. Sorry, to add, I am in ketosis. Bought ketostix from @flexia and have between trace and ++ ketones. I'm not that hungry nowadays and make a great mac nut butter which I just scoop from the container to snack. Have been reading up ( on recommendation from Prof Noakes ) about Otto Warberg and now Johanna Budwig. I have lost 9kgs (96 to 87) since Jan but can probably atribute some to water loss ( I swell up on cortisone ) and just being more physically active since I completed my last chemo in December.
  2. Thanks htone. I am on my phone so can't read the article properly but will get through it asap. What I did see were the benefits of ketogenic diet in assisting people with epilepsy. I am aware of this benefit and it was the treatment of choice until epileptic drugs and it kind of fell by the wayside.
  3. I've been following this thread (and the original) on the sidelines intrigued by the weight loss and energy benefits that you guys are experiencing. My reasons for adopting this diet are however different. I have stage IV colon cancer metastised to the lungs. A Pet CT scan in January got me thinking about reducing my blood glucose to stop feeding the cancer. I have recently started measuring my blood glucose and it sits in the mid to upper 5s. Sometimes over, sometimes under. I would think it should be lower. I'll keep at it and see how it goes. I start chemo again in a few weeks and eating is always a challenge. I think I am the only person who becomes a devouring monster and just end up eating crap. Thanks for some good advice.
  4. You said you have some empathy for the driver and that he wasnt driving recklessly. Wasn't sure if this was fact or opinion, just trying to understand if any new developments have surfaced.
  5. Did he not turn across a solid line into the path of Burry? Is that not reckless? Dassie, are you saying he didn't break the law?
  6. What's in the goodie bag?
  7. Using the Bose sport. Awesome sound, comfortable, never fall out and you can still hear ambient noise. Don't have to take them out to have a conversation, just pause on the remote.
  8. These guys should give lessons in customer service. They make you feel do welcome and comfortable. Setup is professional but not over your head. *****
  9. Not recommended if you have a wide foot. Great shoes though.
  10. nope
  11. I had great backup from Coolheat. Not that it should matter but did you buy the locally. My levers werent bought locally.
  12. I think you are trying to loose too much too quickly. Take smaller healthier steps and forget about the scale. Why do you put the weight back on? Are you constantly hungry when you diet?
  13. I have an Oregon 300 which was for sale in classifieds before the crash. Bike mount, topo 2011 maps ( I think ) and a boat and windscreen sucker mount. Perfect for this kind of use. Pukka gps, heart rate belt compatible and uses 2 x AA batteries. R1800.00 if anyone wants.
  14. Mankele round the corner.
  15. SA Champs doesnt award a tat does it?
  16. The insert on new type Shimano levers recommends removing pads to draw pistons out so when you push them back in the fluid runs up pushing bubbles into the reservoir. Makes sense but didnt recall anything about making sure not to pop the pistons but the instructions do assume you have the spacers.
  17. I'm with Hairy. Or I'd be keen on some of those nice sprockets but bigger, say 21 - 23 teeth.
  18. Know a few guys who used to do it and they reckon it's not as lucrative as it used to be. Whether it was boredom or physically too much I dont know. Their last jobs were picking artifacts off ancient wrecks. The stuff you see on Discovery Channel. Not as glamorous as it looks but a way to get R35k a month without studying for 8 years.
  19. Unfortunately not possible to get paid cash in a paper bag. Would be nice though. Bankers provide a service that has become a necessity. A lot of what bankers, traders, investors, economists, etc do is educated gambling with other people's money. Good work if you can get it. Not for me though. I've seen what's involved though. Bores me to tears and would slit my wrists after one day. Not enough of a bser either.
  20. Back in the day working on an oil rig was this kind of quick financial gratification. Hard, remote, dangerous, long times away but with big bucks. Not sure if it's still the case.
  21. Wow! Only improvement I could imagine would be a Brooks saddle. Putting a spear on the end of a cruise missile. Time to upgrade my friends.
  22. That is beautiful. Is the bike new or used? Has some great hints of use/character.
  23. No space. Possible with an asrc though.
  24. Man, that is possible the most condescending letter I have ever read. Freaking Charles Dickens paid by the word. Obviously.
  25. In the same boat here. Just no energy to ride with the treatment taking its toll. Would probably feel so much better after some regular riding but just cant get going.
