  1. Now I am confused I was always under the impression that it is suppoed to 'suck in' the stanchions. Mine does like only 3mm. As far as I know RS states when setting up your sag (& neg pressure) that you set the positive first & then without depressing you should equal the negative to the positive. If you filled the neg to the same psi (then without removing your pump) compress the fork a couple of times you'll notice the psi is 'lower' than filled before. That is because the neg chamber pulls the fork down slightly. I think if more than like 3mm suck in it can be an indication of oil in the negative air chamber & the neg chamber's air curve is compromised. Does it squirt out oil when you deflate the neg valve? That might also hinder you from getting a precise reading of the pressure in the neg chamber
  2. Are they good? (read: TOUGH)
  3. I have both solo & dual air 150mm revelations. The solo air measures 155mm from seal to crown's bottom The dual air measures 147mm from seal to crown's bottom Thing is with dual air it 'sucks in' the stanchions when the negative chamber pressure is almost the same or more than the positive. Filling the negative chamber with a tad more than the positive makes it a bit more small bump compliant. 140mm travel should perform very much the same as a 150mm. It might just need an extra 5psi or so to not bottom out on the same jumps / drops. Have you dismantled the fork & checked for any travel spacers on the spring side? I am not sure whether they have actually made longer stanchions from the 140mm to 150mm models. I guess you can check if the parts list list them as the same part number.
  4. SINGLE PIVOT!!!
  5. As I said I ride mostly XT & haven't broken 1. Touch wood! I hope in your case it doesn't happen again for a number of reasons. For 1: it'll completely destroy your confidence in the XT (shimano) chains
  6. I have only heard good things about the KMC chains. I ride mostly XT (& SLX)
  7. I'm 100% confident even 15ml won't prevent full travel. (but I may be wrong) The oil can travel up between the stanchion & the lower leg. Does anyone know why RS changed to 5ml? (Droo ?) Bottom line: Will it have any negative effect when there's 15ml in the lower of a nwer RS fork? (revelation to be specific) I just feel more oil = better lubrication. (up to a certain point that is)
  8. I am looking at changing the disco shoes fr a more hike-a-bime friendly shoe. Had a look at the shimano mt43 http://www.buycycle.co.za/apparel/shimano-mt43-mtb-shoes-shimano.html But seems like everyone is out of stock on those & the replacement, mt44, looks very meshy & not so durable. http://www.shimano-lifestylegear.com/gl/fw/products/tour/001sh_mt44.php Anyone know where i can get my hands on a size 46 of the mt43? Or have some other shoes like the spesh tahoe or serfas trax to recommend?
  9. Good to hear you had a safe maiden jump on the Sukuma! What is the BB height with the 160mm (?) fork?
  10. Just an option: I'm sure you've scouted the ads, but in case you haven't: Depending your size, there are a couple of cheapish options for you on thehub: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/76683-large-morewood-shova/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/75049-morewood-shova-lt/ or with some parts https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/76347-downhill-parts-and-frame/ You can pick up a bike / frame & do an awesome paintwork on it like Patches did & it will still cost you way less than a new frame. OR All the Morewood ads: https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1

  12. Love the colour scheme!
  13. Or tad more travel (in the back) to merge with your fox 160 fork...

  15. I'm with you

  17. PM sent regarding numbers for clarens Xtreme
  18. You KNOW it's a scam when: You receive a call / sms & the buyer doesn't even ask a (legitimate) question about the condition of the item (or any more pics) & only asks for your banking details & want to transfer. Want to meet somewhere they suggest you bring the item to (a shakey area & not a public place like a mcdonalds / police station) If you receive said sms - make a call & hear what the buyer's accent sounds like.
  19. Thx for the reply droo. Have phoned lbs & they said shimano only sells complete levers. From 2014 they will be selling a left & right hand lever combo. Gotta love this country! Will you perhaps be able to source something like that? Even a 2nd hand (broken) lever 'unit' i can buy just for the 'inners'?
  20. I recently found out my (left - rear) brake lever (Shimano BR-M666) leaks at the reservoir. I swopped the hydraulic hoses around & fitted new olives & bled both sides. The left always felt a little bit more squishy, but I thought it's due to it being the rear brake. Later after a bike wash I found some mineral oil leaking from the lever. First I thought it was leaking from the olive's side. I found oil in the rubber that fits over the nut that screws into the reservoir. * I put a spanner on, but it was fairly tight & I just gave it a little nip to make sure. * Topped up the reservoir. (by opening up the cover & removing the membrane & putting it back (with rolling method that Hope recommends) * Finally topped up at the bleed hole closed it all up. I wasn't convinced the little nip I gave the nut would have made a difference, so I kept an eye on it. After squeezing the the lever a couple times I was happy with the feel, but after a few rides however I felt the brake lever starting to become squishy again. Had a closer look & I found it was leaking from underneath the lid. I made sure to fit the membrane perfectly as well as the plastic plate before the metal plate goes on top of them. I have downloaded the techdoc & found that I have put everything in the correct order. The membrane isn't damaged (cuts etc) Bottom line is - it leaks & I want to sort it out ASAP. Am I missing something? Are there such parts available locally? (membrane / separator plate ) Part number 4 in the techdoc http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/EV/bikecomponents/BL/EV-BL-M666-3200A_v1_m56577569830796604.pdf
  21. XT pedals are the real deal! Those pedals are smooth & doesn't require much tlc. http://www.easybike.co.za/shimano-xt-pedals-pd-m780.html
  22. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/134027-cwc-fire-sale-for-hubbers/ Sorry Thomo it happened really fast!!!
  23. 740mm, but bought 785mm recently as I wanted to go a tad wider than 740mm. Yes the 785mm is very wide I know! Guess I'll settle at about 765mm (personal choice) Fair middleground I would suggest: +-720mm for the guys +-690mm for the lady
