  1. Hein ry jy 26" of 650B? Sorry ek sien jy ry 29er. Waar het jy die grid tyres gekry? Ek wil graag daai combo op 'n Trance 650B try
  2. Very true! I only built mine up properly this year (although I bought it Dec last year) Couldn't resist waiting (for the fork) so I built it up with a Revelation & 26" wheels from my Shova. I wasn't really stoked, but new there's more. After fitting the 650B wheels & Pike I felt the HULK-ler come alive! The harder you push it the better it rides. I am also 1 of the guys who always want to know how other suspension designs feel / ride etc. & had numerous bikes over the last few years, but I found that there's no more need than a single pivot for my level of riding. I don't see myself selling this bike, unless I am in a financial crisis.
  3. My 650B Heckler. Amazing bike!
  4. I really like those FOES bikes. It's basically a single pivot. Like the 'old school' threaded BB as well. Only 'issue' is rear tyre clearance (IMO)
  5. Not on a boetie bike! That's sacrilege
  6. Looks like very slack seatpost angles. Like the Canfields
  7. Hey Meezo, Glad you finally got the bike built up. At 63kg you should be running closer to 140psi. Usually take your weight in pounds & pump the shock to that. (63 x 2.2 = 138.6) If it bottoms out (,but not harsh bottom out) once or twice per ride just up the psi by about 5psi. If it bottoms out regularly or harsh-ish (notice the hyphen ) then go up by 10psi. If it feels bouncy then dial the rebound slower. Depending on Fox / RockShox I run around 60 - 80% (towards slowest) rebound. When you go up in pressure you have to use more rebound to balance the 'bouncy' feel. Just make sure it's bouncy & not just the pure bliss of the Maestro suspension. Hope that helps. Enjoy!
  8. Large frame with shock (obviously), headset &142mm x 12mm rear through bolt = 2.9kg Mine weighed in at just over 14kg with a burly setup. Pike Hope hubs with Spank Subrosa rims & 2.3 tyres dropper 765mm bars & AM stem It rides much lighter than the weight suggests. These bikes really excel when the going gets rough. You can pedal it through sections shorter travel bikes wants to coast through. The Maestro suspension has amazing small bump compliance.
  9. Lekker bike! Rather buy a dropper than worry about 650B wheels. Slam some 2.3 /2.4 tyres on there & go & get a grin on your face!
  10. Some good advice right there, but wheelbase doesn't change when putting bigger / smaller wheels on a bike.
  11. Thx for that reminder to take the distance increases slower than I want to. Messed up my knee last time. Serious ITB.
  12. I have never been a runner, but I really enjoy hiking in the Drakensberg (although I haven't been hiking much this past year). In 2010 we met up with some hikers also sleeping in in the same cave (Twins cave / Cathedral area) & we chatted about the Mnweni marathon. This isn't the first time I've heard of the marathon though. I have a friend who's an avid trail runner & he'd done it numerous times. A mate & I have decided to take it on since we were told by the other hikers sleeping in Twins that we'd manage since we're strong hikers. We strarted training for it 3 weeks before the race (easter weekend to few days before the race which was 15th of May 2010) To say the least it was very tough, but we managed to keep a steady pace( for us anyways) We finished around 8.5 hours. I have said I'll do it again someday & I feel 2015 is the year. How many km's should I start with & how gradual should I push longer distances? Any advice is very welcome! Thx. J
  13. Owned a couple Giants & loved them all. My 1st dual suspension was a Trance X1 (bought 2nd) Reign 1 2013 (bought 2nd) & in action. My latest Giant: a Trance 650B. Unfortunately still dressed in 26er wheels. Just waiting for the Pike to arrive.... & dropper of course!
  14. Do you want to go stealth dropper? If not I have a brand new Reverb (MKII) 385mm x 125mm 30.9mm (with bleeding kit) i'm looking at selling. PM for details
  15. How urgently do you need it? I have a black Funnduro I am thinking about selling. 45mm
  16. I can get the normal Reverb for R4000 from LBS. Stealth is a bit steep at R4600 Not too long ago it was almost R800 cheaper
  17. You sure Sakkie? Less than DH for sure, but more than the aforementioned bikes.
  18. Go to the Spruit & meet some of the friendly locals & see them rip! Pretty sure there'll be someone that'll lend you a bike for a spin. Definitely AM (or enduro as it's called now) bike is the most versatile. As Sakkie said 140mm to 180mm would be the best middleground with 180mm being a bit on the rough side & my guess is that not many guys are riding with that much suspension. 160mm is a lot already & loads of fun!!!
  19. Always great service! Their tyres are usually at unbeatable prices.
  20. Please keep me / us posted when you've received & tried these tyres out.
