  1. I recently found out my (left - rear) brake lever (Shimano BR-M666) leaks at the reservoir. I swopped the hydraulic hoses around & fitted new olives & bled both sides. The left always felt a little bit more squishy, but I thought it's due to it being the rear brake. Later after a bike wash I found some mineral oil leaking from the lever. First I thought it was leaking from the olive's side. I found oil in the rubber that fits over the nut that screws into the reservoir. * I put a spanner on, but it was fairly tight & I just gave it a little nip to make sure. * Topped up the reservoir. (by opening up the cover & removing the membrane & putting it back (with rolling method that Hope recommends) * Finally topped up at the bleed hole closed it all up. I wasn't convinced the little nip I gave the nut would have made a difference, so I kept an eye on it. After squeezing the the lever a couple times I was happy with the feel, but after a few rides however I felt the brake lever starting to become squishy again. Had a closer look & I found it was leaking from underneath the lid. I made sure to fit the membrane perfectly as well as the plastic plate before the metal plate goes on top of them. I have downloaded the techdoc & found that I have put everything in the correct order. The membrane isn't damaged (cuts etc) Bottom line is - it leaks & I want to sort it out ASAP. Am I missing something? Are there such parts available locally? (membrane / separator plate ) Part number 4 in the techdoc http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/EV/bikecomponents/BL/EV-BL-M666-3200A_v1_m56577569830796604.pdf
  2. XT pedals are the real deal! Those pedals are smooth & doesn't require much tlc. http://www.easybike.co.za/shimano-xt-pedals-pd-m780.html
  3. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/134027-cwc-fire-sale-for-hubbers/ Sorry Thomo it happened really fast!!!
  4. 740mm, but bought 785mm recently as I wanted to go a tad wider than 740mm. Yes the 785mm is very wide I know! Guess I'll settle at about 765mm (personal choice) Fair middleground I would suggest: +-720mm for the guys +-690mm for the lady
  5. Which tracer frame did you get? On a side note: I can get a barely ridden 2013 Giant Reign 1 (not X) with reverb dropper post for a mere R16000. As much as I want to opt for a Nukeproof frame, the Reign just makes more sense to me for the price. Any comments?
  6. Looks awesome! Anyone know if there are such trails in the drakensberg?
  7. Now why would you post that? You screwed up my Saturday morning when I read that. & probably my budget as well.
  8. Glad you all had an awesome weekend. I wish I could go (but at least I had a lekker ride there about 2 weekends ago on a geared FS bike ) Next year I will be there for sure!!! (If they host it again)
  9. Awesome service from dial'dbikes & Andrew is always super helpful!!! Keep up the AWESOME work guys!
  10. I know my reply is a bit late, but I also opted for a 34T x 10 (36-11) on my Cotic BFe (26") & I have to admit that the first ride was the toughest. If you have an easier gear then chances are you will use it & 'never' get out of your comfort zone. The body just needs to be 'shocked'. Next time it (your body) knows what's coming & it won't be that bad as the first time. Stick with the 34T. You will get fitter faster sticking with it rather than trying to become fitter using your other bike with lower gear ratios. Hats off to you Peach for riding a 38T
  11. I see...
  12. Only 'cause Capricorn said it happened to him. I thought I'm gonna give it a shot as some suggested it's a good tyre for F & R. Don't really worry what others may think as long as it works (performs) well.
  13. Not bad price at all. Have you bought only the 1 or 2 of them? Should be cheaper when doing combined shipping (more than 2 tyres) Their weight suggests quite a thick sidewall. Would you mind sharing a link? (from ebay) Give us some feedback after a couple of rides (re: mud, traction, wear etc)
  14. I ordered a set of HD's for my bike (should arrive this week) Got trailstar for front & pacestar at the back. Guess I should prepare for being frowned upon
  15. Looks nice! How thick are the sidewalls? (say compared to conti MK tubeless & Maxxis LUST) How much they set you back?
  16. It will depend on yourself & what you prefer. (Riding style) If you are not a racer you dont really 'need' a lockout (imo) I ride a 150mm full suspension bike (do light to medium trail riding) & honestly speaking- I can't remember when was the last time i used the lockout. How much better is the spec (drive train etc.) on the bike with the lockout fork? I will never pay R1500 for a lockout only. When I started cycling a friend advised me to always buy as 'expensive' as you can as the upgrades will cost you more in the long run. Didn't.listen to his advice 1st time around. I do now.
  17. Will confirm the price on monday. You can send me a reminder PM on monday morning & I will reply to that.
  18. Still have a 2009 Trance. The model with the curved top tube. My main bike is a Morewood Shova (at the moment) You looking at a 650B trance for R25k? or the Reign? I can organise you a bit better deal on either of the bikes.
  19. I can't comment being an owner of a reign, but I rode a friend's (older model with pierced downtube) & although it's a heavier frame as the 1 you are looking at it rides like a beast! Think reviews said like half a pound difference in frame weight, so the new one will be a lot better. I do own a Trance with a 150mm fork & that bike rules! What price can you get on it? New or 2nd?
  20. I always try pedal 1 / 2 gear(s) higher / smaller than what feels comfy. That will 'push' your legs continiously to work harder. Do squats & lunges as well.
  21. On mtb? That's some serious miliage. Mine starts to show wear at 1000-1200km I replace & rotate 4-5 chains to squeeze the most out of a cassette & crank
  22. Now that's proof of exactly HOW GOOD the Trances are
