  1. Would have loved to but the Shova is that weekend and I promised myself I would do it this year so sorry no.
  2. Couple of things, it would normally be the BB threads in the frame, strip clean and regrease should solve it. If not try some PTFE (plumbers) tape around the threads. Sometimes noises seem to come from different places, I had a knocking or clicking sound recently on each pedal revolution. Tried everything and eventually found that seat rails were dirty, cleaned them up and sound is gone so check everything, seat, seatpost and headset. Good luck. IanJ2008-09-11 13:46:59

  4. Will be later as soon as Summer comes properly, even had to cut short last night to 35min cos it was getting too dark.
  5. Ja she is watching you !!!
  6. I saw Pantani with the JPS special in Meyerton today and it actually looks good in real life with the wheels plain, I think any more would spoil it. Luckily I had my shades on so I could see it properly in the sunlight .
  7. ShaunH we are BRUTALLY HANDSOME and I am DIK That is a matter of opinion but where are the helmets and Samma are you wearing a seatbelt?
  8. Please explain for us none Photographer types .
  9. But was MWNN on his MTB because then there would be extenuating circumstances?
  10. That's what I meant just different cats within the race. Won't lap counting get complicated though or how are you planning on doing it?
  11. Can we please look at age cats later as it grows. Us old toppies can't compete with the racing snakes (although i will give it a good try). Thanks for setting it up Alex. By the way I am the guy that bought your Bianchi EV3 off you some years ago (ex HSBC bike).
  12. Sorry guys won't be able to make this one. Have a meeting with our Architect set up and this is the only weekend available. Enjoy it, be safe and raise lot's of money.
  13. The argument is always that they have to wait for results to be approved by the organisers of the race before they can use them. Don't know how valid it is though. Maybe one day we can have one timing system or at least a common database which updates automatically including your seeding as the race finishes. Wishful thinking.

    105 question

Only comment I would make is that you can get the groupset for R4500 (Solomons) or R4850 (CWC). That is new and includes chain and cassette. Just a word of warning first with Solomons, don't trust their advertisements, phone first and check if they have stock at that price.
  15. BigBen' date=' I will still ride you off with my compact cranks!![/quote'] Chippy I must be honest, I fitted compact cranks when I was training for the Etape du Tour last year and I really needed the lower gearing when we were in the Pyrenees. However when you are seriously racing especially in flatter races you need the speed of a 53 tooth large chain ring. I actually can't rememebr using my small chain ring in a recent race. Really boils down to what you want to get out of your cycling.
  16. You were nearly off my Christmas present list .

  19. I think a journey like Riaan's has many facets to it. I just don't believe that if he had really used "hundreds of tubes" and "dozens of chains" that he could just have forgotten about them. Fill a box with 100 tubes and you'll see what a mountain it is. Fill a box with 100 chains and you'll have a heavy mountain. I'm interested in how he sourced it in the bundu' date=' how he dealt with the problems that we solve in well-equipped workshops etc etc. For instance, the Tour de France has spawned books on the individual's ups and downs, on the drug scandal and more. The TDF book I enjoyed was Tales from the Toolbox. Here the mechanic described how his riders wore out their brakes in a single day's race - the Paris Roubais. He describes how he screwed up on Hamilton's BB and Hamilton paid the price, etc etc. The world has many vantage points from where I'd like to study it. [/quote'] Johan I presume you haven't read the book, many of the details you are referring are covered in the book but not statistically. There are plenty of stories of him having to put his bike on a truck and catching a lift to the nearest town to find the local "mechanic". He always went back to where he stopped though to complete the journey. I seem to rememebr that his biggest problem was spokes breaking. If you would like to borrow the book I will gladly lend it to you.
  20. The local cycling magazines usually carry a training programme round about this time of year. My second 94.7 I used one of them and it worked for me. They usually have different programmes depending on your fitness level and goals etc.
