  1. Yes it will and I found it much easier to adapt with the dual controls. Like you say going from 'normal' shifting' to rapid rise can lead to all sorts of interesting shifts when it matters .......... Disclaimer ..... this is all IMHO and I take no resonsibility for anything at all that may arise from this advise!
  2. Depends what you call 'normal', with a rapid rise when you push the lever 'down' it will shift 'down' to a harder gear ............ and when you click 'up' it will shift to an easier gear ....... Ai ai ai I am confusing myself but hope it makes sense. BTW have you used rapid rise before (on any shifter)? Sorry to say but rapid rise will never be considered normal ........BigBen2009-02-23 02:23:19
  3. Yes you CAN use any Shimano shifter with that derailleur! However some will say that they are better with dual controls (found that myself). They work fine with triggers but remember that the shift direction will be 'back to front' to what you normally expect!
  4. Can only say that every time I have doubted Boris and changed only what I thought was needed I ended doing what he recommended anyway cause he was right ......
  5. Agreed Parra - I train with a pair of those Olympics and they get no special treatment and just go on and on. Had a pair of the entry level Merida shoes but they did not last very long .........
  6. I got a PRO one, not that expensive and been using it for more than 2 years and we do a fair bit of bike maintenance and it still works like the day I got it!
  7. Again must agree with tortoise that for a recreational / fast fun rider the 520's are fine. Having said that the 540's do look 'sexier' (they have that fancy tapered part that attaches to the pedal) and they are lighter but by grams I guess.
  8. We got 2 pairs of 520's and 2 pairs of 540's that we have been using like for ages and must agree with the tortoise that you cannot go wrong with them!
  9. Very nice! He who dies with the most toys wins ......
  10. Time trial 'stay of execution' for now! Though the official statement is still pending from Pat McQuaid later today, word among the teams is that the UCI now would not strictly enforce that clause until 2010 in order to give teams and manufacturers sufficient time to develop and test replacement gear. http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/time-trial-stay-of-execution-for-now-20464

  18. Hi DanXT - yip I have the Tora on now and it is way heavy, however the Skareb looks 'dated' and has those 'thinner' stanchions etc. Having said that it is in great nick and it has been serviced in December and not ridden since .......
  19. For you MTB ekspets (hold off you language fundis just a joke ...)! Just a simple question:- Rockshox Tora 302SL (2008 non air) or Manitou Skareb Platinum (circa 2005 - just serviced - air with SPV) For those that want to why the one over the other?
