  1. Will only affect clothing items, bike parts and tools are 0% duty, just 15% VAT The tax on clothing has always been there, things just aren't always declared properly or enforced.
  2. Just went to get some sanding discs and walked out with one of these. Already had the batteries so this option was great 1/2" and Hex quick adaptor make a good pair
  3. Another vote for: No such thing as a fish (The elves from BBC's QI) 99 Percent invisible Cautionary Tails with Tim Harford
  4. Check the published range on your derailleur. You may get away with 11-40 on a x2 system, bit might run into issues on x3. Shimano makes an affordable Deore level 11-46T, 10 speed cassette, HG500 or something like thay. Have had good success converting the front to x1 with a narrow wide chainring and one of those cassettes on the rear
  5. Its not super complicated to do a basic service. Most manufacturers publish manuals on how to do the work. Take your time. The first time you do it will be more expensive then sending it away, buying tools, flat face socket, lubricants etc, but then you should have enough consumables for a couple service and will only cost you the service kit.
  6. Mine is added to my DIscovery household insurance as a specified item with an elected value. Claimed for some trail damage and they paid out.
  7. Been wondering the same thing
  8. PPE though is 0% tax
  9. They make it sound like the tax is something new to target Temu etc. There have always been that tax on clothing good, Temu, Shein etc just wasn't declaring it correctly, so this was bound to happen. One of the main reasons I've always tried to avoid bringing clothing into the country, unless you willing to pay the tax and then VAT
  10. Yes, provided it doesn't bottom out
  11. I'll let the professionals chime in, but 1mm extra length on a double wall rim should not be he end of the world?
  12. BikeHub does remove counterfeit items and issue warnings to users selling them.
  13. Following. Been using Magnatec for my lowers services for years. Hope nothing major has changed, but @DieselnDust is the oil guy and would know if there were red flags
  14. Shimano hubs are solid, even if they are cup and cone. May be slightly on the heavier side, but I would not be concerned with the hubs
  15. I do agree with you there Have you seen the Leatt rip off clothing gear they advertising, there is also stuff with a logo that looks like D'Ville Cyclery
  16. Hear you go. Good welds, zero play in the sleeve, super smooth. Only thing I did was nip the sharp tip off the retaining grub screw and put some locktite on it. Even came with half decent usage instructions.
  17. I bought a Parktools lookalike derailleur hanger tool, wasn't expecting much, but I was super impressed by the quality when it arrived. Total was about R700 with R108 duties, well worth it for the product I received
  18. They use Buffalo couriers for the logistics in SA
  19. Have you checked the hanger alignment out of interest
  20. If it's holding air, ride it😈 I did have a rear Spank rim that starting cracking and pulling through at the nipples, so they not immune, but still like the product. Replaced with a more affordable rim which I dinged 2 rides in! Straightened out, holding air and I'll ride it till its properly wrecked!
  21. @Jbr what hub have you got? I have experienced this with DT Swiss 3pawl hubs for instance, there is a spacer tube over the axle, over time they compress just enough to cause binding. First time I replaced it, problem solved, 2 years later, same issue, chatted to my local mech and he handed me a very thin spacer washer to take up the space left by the material compressing... apparently next time it happens he has another slightly thicker washer
  22. Captain Mayhem rises from the ashes!!! Welcome
  23. 27.5 is not going anywhere. Much easier to get 27.5 equipement then it is to find decent 26. Doubt the upgrade from rim to disc would be worth it on an old frame, rather put the money toward a more modern upgrade from the classifieds. Most bike shops will carry so v-brakes for you in the mean time. A couple good options given above. Setup of pads is quite important for correct operation and better longevity.
  24. Many manufactures will have a demo bike available, chat to your local bike shop
