    That's the RC20. RC10 is the same bike, but in white. And comes standard with power meter and carbon wheels.

    I bought the power meter when I bought the bike and have ordered a set of Winspace Hyper 50mm wheels. The bike comes with Syncros alloy wheels that I'll keep for rainy days. The wheels in the picture belong to a friend of mine who has an RC15, but has since purchased a set of Black Inc wheels, so these are on loan until I get my new wheels.

    The bikes comes with Sram Force AXS groupset and Syncros saddle and alloy bars. I've put my S-Works Power saddle on, because my butt is already imprinted on it and I've put on some carbon bars.

  2. I know the guy who fell.  He says the article is 90% incorrect.  I am not going into detail as I or he might be wrong.

     

    I think you or your friend should back that statement up with some facts, then.

     

    According to the article, he was found in a construction zone which was marked as such and off limits to the public.

     

    Unless this is all a lie, I don't think the general public has much of a choice but to agree that he was wrong.

     

    Hope your friend heals up quick, though, and that this has been a lesson to him and that he won't do it again.

  4. Pace was on at the foot of NeverEnder Hill and never slowed down.

    I was on my limit during the attacks through Atlantis Industria.

     

    Slept like a well fed baby that night.

     

    I was near the back of the bunch (stupidly) when we hit the 'climb'. It looked like a scene out of a Vietnam movie.

     

    I remember I also stupidly attacked just before we hit the N7. Nearly got dropped on the little bump on the N7 because of that :D

  5. First time at this event. When you say "fast", how fast do you mean? If i say average 30kmph normally at CTCT, should i be aiming for 10% faster average speed at this event? 20%?

     

    Our average speed last year was 39.8 last year out of A. Pretty sure that's not the fastest ever, though. Hold on to your hats!

  6. I don't think those frames are really worth that much anymore, sadly. There have been two generations since, both with vast aerodynamic improvements over this one. Even the new Tarmac is claimed to be more aero than this Venge.

     

    I think realistically for a frame this old, around R8k-R10k.

     

    But as always: willing seller, willing buyer.

    They are not permanently bonded to the frame. The epoxy bonds to the carbon, yes, but not to the plastic. The epoxy forms a snug hole for the cups to fit in. The cups can then be removed after if need be.

     

    Look, I agree it's a stupid design. But the point I've been trying to make is: Stupid design or not, it was not a once of thing. It was common practice on these frames and every Spez dealer knew this. Cycles Direct have been a Spez dealer for many years. They should have known what the procedure is for these frames.

    They could just as easily claim wear and tear then... "The rotating bb cups caused wear and tear on you frame sir, sorry."

     

    Oh you mean the ones that are NOT supposed to be loose, yea, sorry my fault, probably should have glued them or something.

     

    Well in this case, Sh*t design or not, the blame does fall on the installer. Cycles Direct have been selling Spez for many years. This was/is common practice on those Spez frames. So it should have been done. Regardless of whether or not in your oponion it is bad design. Epoxied BB cups rarely fail if ever.

    Why re-invent the crank... well you can see where I am going with this! :whistling:

     

    I get that. I too am sometimes frustrated with all the different BB standards and not to mention all the proprietary systems like the Look cranks.

     

    But cranks have been reinvented many times over the years. If not, we would all still be using cotter pins.

     

    Some stick, like Cannondale's BB30 (which has become a standard now) and some don't.

    I can only think of one more brand where the epoxying of the BB is suggested, not even sure it is required.

     

    There is still too much red tape in my opinion.

    Sounds like Horse poop to me.

     

     

    S-Works frames with S-Works cranks needed the BB cups that essentially house the BB to be epoxied in by the shop. The reason for this is so that any other crank could be fitted if the rider so chose. So this is not a hack or a bodge or oversight. It was done so that riders would not be stuck with only one crank to use. The epoxied BB cups are also removable without damaging the frame if the correct specified epoxy is used.

     

    This was standard practice from I think MY2011 to about MY2017 or so. The new Epic frame has a threaded BB, so no need for any pressfit BB's or cups to be glued in.

     

    I appreciate that we do not yet know exactly which brand of bike is in question, but I'm pretty sure we all have a good idea of what it might be.

     

    If it's a different brand, then yes, I agree with you. Epoxy would be a bodge job fix, but if it is indeed Specialized, then epoxy is standard practice for certain frames.

    No it is not. 

     

    It became a preventative measure after this Specific brand started experiencing problems with their bb's in those frames.  (Did this Lbs receive the memo from H.O. to carry out such installation instructions?  Is this Lbs an authorized dealer to work on such frames?) 

    Just some things to keep in mind, should you want to go the legal route.

     

     

    Seems to me like it is easy for Head office to pretend to be on your side and shift blame to the Lbs while all the while they are the ones that should be taking responsibility for the manufacturing defect in their frames.

     

    If the brand in question is the one we're all thinking of, then yes, depending on BB and/or frame, it is standard practice to epoxy the BB cups into the frame. But this is to my knowledge only for one specific spec level of the frame with a specific, proprietary crank set.

     

    BUT I MIGHT BE MISTAKEN AS TO THAT FACT. It could be any frame with any crank/BB combo. And this is nothing new for this brand either. It has been done since the MY2011.

     

    So in my opinion, if this old LBS was indeed an authorised dealer, the should have known about this procedure. And thus should be liable for any costs, as in my opinion, it could very well be negligence.

     

    But we can only speculate I suppose.

  12. Maybe it's just because I'm too slow to have any, but I don't really understand why people make such a big fuss about KOMs ons Strava segments.

     

    Is it perhaps a case of caring too much about what your friends say and not enough about having the opportunity to just go ride?

  13. It varies from person to person. There is the rough guide of 220 minus your age which indicates your max HR, but I can still hit a max of 202bpm and I can relatively comfortably sit at an average of 180bpm for a 3 hour race at age 28.

     

    Some people engines just rev higher. Kinda like V-Tec which only kicks in at high rpms. Other people have big old V8's which work better at low rpms.

     

    I have checked with my doctor and everything is safe. So perhaps it would be a good idea to chat to your doctor about it as well.

    But the a*****s in $ have been telling us noobs we can't expect to to understand why $-riders cross the white line if we haven't raced there ourselves.

     

    So do you not agree that the chances of crossing a white line is much bigger in a racing bunch than in the alphabet bunches, where riders generally split up more, creating smaller groups? And also, if you haven't raced there, then yes, you wouldn't know. Just like I have never performed heart surgery, so I wouldn't know what goes on in an operating theatre.
