  1. Hi Guys, Nick. Do you know of a person or initiative in Cape Town doing a similar Build-a-bike thing, where I can donate parts, or should I sent my parts up to you in a box? I've got a 9-spd groupset and a few other things I'd like to donate.
  2. Fantastic! Absolutely brilliant work by MTN Qhubeka Super proud of you guys. Flying the flag so high. Also, besides the riders, a huge well done to Doug. Incredible vision and execution.
  3. Think of all the teams that MTN Qhubeka have totally outshone in this Tour: Cofidis, IAM, Bretagne-Seche, Trek etc. What stars I'm so happy for the boys
  4. Arno Du Toit just missing out. Otherwise, an excellent team. All the best guys and girls!
  5. Wow, sexy! Seriously, I never used to like most Cervelos, but this one is super special.
  6. Absolutely fantastic! I'm loving seeing Meintjies doing so well, toe-to-toe with the best.
  7. R37k for frame + R21k for RS-1 fork + R2k for seatpost = R60k Right on target for S-Works pricing. As much as I like this bike, that's gonna be a hard sell.
  8. Yeah, I asked the guys at the SwiftCarbon stand at LifeCycle Expo a few weeks back about pricing. They indicated around R36k - R37k for the frame (set?)
  9. Flipping great! Well done guys!!! Very cool to see this team at the very sharp end of the race
  10. I want! The rubbish plastic ends from ESI chunky grips fall out so easily anyway. Great place to store the plug etc. Where can we buy?
  11. I like this assessment a lot. I do agree that this matches well with most Saffers' aspirations and levels of skill. I'd imagine this would inspire much confidence in descending over a similar 100mm anthem.
  12. I had the same thought looking at that picture. Wonder if competitiveness is taken too far in this school context? That's a lot of moolah for that age.
  13. Good point, but consider this: I ride with a mate fairly regularly. We ride the same trails, in Tokai, at the same pace. On alternate days, we could ride the trails separately, while sharing a GPS Strava-enabled device of some kind. We ride the same routes, at pretty much the same pace. Wouldn't it be almost impossible to figure out this form of cheating? p.s. I haven't entered myself, just giving my 2c.
  14. So frikking proud of them Go represent!
  15. If you're not busy doing a race, what difference does 80g make to your training rides? You wouldn't need this during a race, where 80g might be lot for some, but only for coffee rides/training. Surely the extra weight is like "resistance training"? Seriously, that's less than any cellphone in weight
  16. Yeah, I'm definitely considering doing it all on my mtb. I will, If I don't get any realistic offers. Just thought I'd see what I could do to source a more appropriate bike.
  17. So I'm looking to do something a bit unconventional. I'd like to borrow somebody's road bike for on long term agreement, for at most about 9 months until and including the PnP Argus Cycle Tour in March next year Basically, the idea is that I'm not at the point of purchasing my own road bike at the moment. I mainly ride my mountain bike, but can't justify a purchase for such limited use as I intend at this stage. I intend to ride the Die Burger, The PnP Argus and a couple of weekend rides. I figure there are lots of blokes out there who have a road bike gathering dust in the garage, which deserve to be put to good use. Compensation will of course be discussed, and may be a portion of the bike's value. I am willing to provide relevant documentation to allay fears, and sign some sort of agreement on the terms. I am 1.85, 6 ft 1, longish inseam. Generally ride a Large, on the border of XL. So I think I'm looking for a 56cm bike, or 58cm with shorter stem. I'm not going to get picky on the type of bike, sportive or full on race. Let me know if you have any ideas, comments or suggestions. Or of course if you have the bike I'm looking for Please, no nastiness.
  18. I haven't seen any brain logos on the Spez RS1's. Do you think they've included the brain tech inside already?
  19. http://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Niner/JET-9-RDO-Limited-Edition-with-XX1-RS1,14867#product-specs What justifies an extra R30k over the JET 9 RDO with XX1 and RS1 ?
  20. Haha, had no idea about the state of the route. Besides, how fast can you really be going down those switchbacks? But honestly, I would not attempt going uphill if there was any reasonable chance of collision.
