  1. Drop me a PM
  2. Sorry to hear. Sounds like it's becoming quite common in Gauteng these days!
  3. Funny you should mention Jay. I have one of his vices that will be getting sold quite soon... Oak base, plus all the goodies. It really is a world class product. Actually going to sell my entire tying kit. Hooks, beads, materials, etc. Will hopefully find a taker for the whole lot
  4. Have 600sqm of paneled interior and a bit of exterior at our offices. Looks epic but costs are eye watering.
  5. Not to harp on this, but they don't spring back because the pad is getting jammed against the rim, NOT because the spring is too weak. This happens when the pad is set flush against the rim and not with a small angle to the front
  6. If you grew up in the era of XT parallelogram v-brakes, your kid's bike will always have centered brakes. Lube the cables, lube all the pivot points, learn to set them properly (pads angled slightly) and you'll never have issues. You also won't have to wind the return spring to max, which makes the pull very soft. My 5 year old manages to pull his easily.
  7. VAT and duty is only charged on cost of goods, and not on the shipping cost. So it'll work out to a bit less.
  8. Duty exemption on EU imports, provided they're manufactured there.
  9. Correct. However, for complete bikes, if you can get Canyon to supply the correct invoice stating that the bike is built in Germany, it will be duty exempt so you'll only pay VAT. May require some debates at customs though.
  10. This year I need to pay them, due to CGT on some unit trusts I sold. I'll make them wait until the very end.
  11. Good show! They're all good kits, once you get used to working with them. Last night I used my Smith's kit to put a 20 degree edge on a new blade I'm busy making. Still amazes me how such a simple concept can work so darn well.
  12. Yeah I doubt they'd have a factory part for that, but it could work. You'd have to make up the stopper yourself. If you remove the inner seatpost sleeve from the outer sleeve and add a 13mm shim to the inner sleeve, it will stop it rising all the way up.
  13. I have the Brand X dropper from CRC, identical to the Lyne product. It's possible to add a 13mm stopper to the internal piston that would simply prevent it from rising to full extension (essentially making it a 107mm dropper). That could work for you?
  14. If you have a real relationship with your kids and see them often, there's no need to sign anything. Moving children far away from one of their parents may not be in their best interests, and could outweigh the benefit of moving them to a first world country. And that is precisely what a court will look at.
  15. The idea with clay is that it's more of a steam than a boil. No need to submerge the cut of meat, so it develops that nice roasted texture without drying out or feeling boiled.. I had one, until I spilt cold water on the lid after cooking...
  16. They're quite different. Lansky/Smith's is a proper edge profiler, but takes longer and is not something you'd do too often. Warthog is more for quick sharpening - I have a similar sharpener I keep in the kitchen and for touch ups on other knives. Properly used, the lansky is hard to beat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlI5PaXsfOk
  17. Myles, where do you source hickory chips from? Ribs look darn good!
  18. Used tea bags left in the old paraffin work very well too.
  19. VAT was 10% on introduction in 1991. Increased to 14% in 1993.
  20. Even better! Speyside or islay? Or even a nice little bourbon?
  21. If I get a 4pm flight, will I make it in time?
  22. You will pay Canyon for the bike and shipping. When it lands here you will pay VAT and duty on the invoice amount (which will exclude shipping).
  23. I've 'heard' many stories about the parties on farms during picking season. Most backpackers don't really do it for the cash...
  24. That scent is called confidence. It's what a haircut and decent set of rags does for you
  25. A six and a half hour pork belly. You win this thread!
