  1. If you actually clicked on the link provided then you will see there is a link to a GPX file (strava) for the route as well as a link to prices
  2. Try the Tinman Series that is about to start in Gauteng, it is a little cheaper. I suspect as they want to try to attract entries to make it feasible and viable for future events as they spread out from their Durban base. https://www.entryninja.com/events/77255-tinman-joburg-1
  3. You better not consider an Ironman 70.3 as that is 5 times that price. A typical running road race will cost your R300+, a road cycle race R400+, the replacement of just a road tire will be R700+ So R700 is not a lot by the time you factor in venue costs, having medical staff available as well as marshals and nutrition out on course. Even with sponsorship they still have to make a profit as it is a business and there are still other costs on top of what have mentioned. (barriers/transition area/tents/signs/public liability insurance etc) Perhaps you should re-evaluate what things costs these days, and also realise that the sport of triathlon is not cheap, and that does not factor in the entry cost.
  4. Just in time as Suunto implodes and is about to go under (probably) https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2022/01/suunto-sold-to-new-owners-again.html Would expect many to jump ship from Suunto to Garmin
  5. Keep the wheel on trainer you have and get the direct drive. Then you can have your individual bikes on each trainer. Or as you said in your last point fit a 7 speed cassette to the new direct drive trainer and you should be fine using your old MTB's. Many do https://forums.zwift.com/t/7-speed-cassette-on-a-direct-drive-trainer/524423/5

  9. 45% running, 27% cycling, 22% swimming, 6% S&C
  10. Less than last year
  11. Who cares?!? You have your records for the year and you will know if you hit your own target or not. Do you really need something from Strava as vindication? Because it does not look as good now to post to social media where no one really cares anyway!!
  12. I also use an Icetoolz cable cutter https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/icetoolz-pro-cable-cutter-67a5

  14. Also keep an eye on Johnson Crane end of Jan https://www.roadrunning.co.za/event/Johnson-Crane-Hire-Half-Marathon-2022, yet to be announced, but on the calendar TBC.
  15. You may want to say where you are located if you want a studio near to you. Otherwise read on the wattbike website about the tests you can do and how to do them to get your FTP and from there your training zones.
  16. I can only find up until early March 2022 https://www.roadrunning.co.za/calendar. You could do Joburg City North Marathon on 13 Feb 2022 or Vaal marathon on 05 March 2022
  17. Romours confirmed https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/deceuninck-ceo-takes-swipe-at-patrick-lefevere-after-switching-sponsorship-to-alpecin-fenix/
  18. Comments on other sites I have read is that Patrick refuses to consider a woman's team and Deceuninck are looking to tap into that market, but who knows? Also rumour is that Soudal are moving to Quick-Step
  19. Alpecin Fenix to have Deceuninck as a sponsor and seems to have ended their sponsorship of Quick-Step.... https://road.cc/content/news/cycling-live-blog-1-december-2021-288271?fbclid=IwAR22J9uw86M6TpejvjSWlP0h3realYVzHvBWfTVkUtRYUDO6odnRYHh_Srs

  21. Belgian one-day race Danilith Nokere Koerse triples women's prize money for equality https://www.cyclist.co.uk/news/10276/danilith-nokere-koerse-prize-money
  22. Was advertised a short while ago the new 70.3. The bike route for the 70.3 (being the same as Worlds2018 which cuts towards town away from Marine Dr, before connecting with Marine Dr) so is slightly different to the FIM bike route. Still think it will be a draft fest on the bike leg on the way back with both HIM and FIM cycling the same route back ..... should be interesting!!
  23. Well done and sounds like a very tough day for all... which in some ways makes you more of an Ironman for finishing!!
  24. Congrats and well done. Conditions looked brutal. What others say, you will look back on this race with fond memories!!
