  1. I'd say the general condition is still pretty good - compared to Jonkers where you have to ratatatat through dongas!! A bit off topic but some eager-beavers built a new ST somewhere in the middle-section of Eden (that short, sweet segment where you sorta ride up and down on a ridge) a short while ago. They were so desperate to promote their track that they blocked off the original one! Kudos to their enthusiasm but it was sh*** track!
  2. Well, in theory... My girlfriend's bike needed a 9-speed, relatively entry level drivetrain (incl. front chainrings). My LBS quoted almost 2.5k - which immediately sent me looking online. Usually SA stores do fine, but this time, I would have had to source the components from at least 3 different stores (stock issues, price differences, etc.) So, as a "last resort" I decided to use CRC (for the first time as well). And at the same time I filled the basket with other stuff as well to make it more worth it. So yes, it can be worth it cost wise, but in terms of shipping times...
  3. I felt like the wise guy ordering from CRC - saving lots of $$$ on my drivetrain. Ordered on the 26th. Guess I won't be seeing my drivetrain any day soon...
  4. I had to google that word. Not dissapointed!
  5. customize a Superfly FS 9.8 SL?? Where can I enter!? I'm only in grade 18
  6. Hijack time. Anyone familiar with them Salomons X Ultra shoes? i had an impulsive buy (I know I know...) and got them for relatively cheap. They are super comfy - never felt any shoes as good as these. Anyways, I soon found out it was Adventure Hiking shoes (according to the official website), versus Trail Run as Cape Union Mart Advertised them...sort of...
  7. Not here to argue Geax vs Maxxis vs Conti vs whatnot Gonna drop some shameless marketing. Got myself some Conti Protektion tyres from easybike at R550 each. If you decide on Continentals for whatever reason: take the Protektion route (versus Pure Grip). I've seen way to many slashed tyres around here..
  8. Haha they're always 40% off - almost like Sushi shops... (I recently brought a XT chain, cassette and BB all for under R1100 - and that wasn't from Easybike...) The Conti Protektion range though - cheapest I know in SA
  9. Stitching didn't come out so lekker...anyways, my Sunday-damn-I-ate-too-much-I-need-to-go-ride photo: http://i.imgur.com/HTQn4Ky.jpg Fig 1: "Portage recommended" - Magnificent view of the Jonkershoek valley.
  10. Nice... thanks I will look into this
  11. Hey guys I currently have burr-grinder / moka-pot / good-local-supply-of-roasted-beans setup. The coffee tastes great and I have no complaints about my coffee system, except for the milk. I do have a frother, which is nice for cappuccinos... but I want the good stuff. I want a steam-based frother to get that silky flat-whites / latte tops. No I understand that they need the pressured steam which you get with a full-on espresso machine, but is there any way to get these separately?
  12. Perfect day for some wheeled-mountaineering (and some walking) in Jonkershoek! http://i.imgur.com/rVCGIrK.jpg Photo Sphere / Google Views version
  13. Cool photos. I'll read tonight!
  14. ...and also, how long do we have to wait for the x11 XT range?
  15. When does the entries close?
  16. Agreed! IF I had this bike I would use it as a centrepiece in my living room A piece of art - definitely more form than function!

  19. Shave. For a sport that's 30:70 performance:posing you just have to
  20. I don like my Castle Milk Stout...but leave the chocolate flavoured stuff for the kids
  21. Don't want to hijack this post... but I'm stuck on step 1: how do you just drop the chain in a bucket? Quick release chain links?
  22. Here you go. And the ding.. (yes I know she needs a wash..)
  23. Hey Guys I want to sell my old set of wheels to help fund my new set... The problem is that its been through a lot. The front wheel is fine (just need bearing service). The back wheel is buckled (can be straightened), but also has a vertical ding (which cant be fixed). And off course there's the usual scratches Would it be worth trying to sell? (Its from a 2012 Scott Scale Elite) Rims: DT Swiss 485d (32H) rims (Tubless Conversion) on Shimano ® and Scott (F) hubs. Est 2150 grams.
  24. I'm a fan of Scott bikes myself, but I think the Genius would be more suited for this...
