  1. he he he , that's exactly what Zaskar said
  2. Race report from the back of the field:<?:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Well I had a really nice ride, (didn't think I could ever say that about this race with the wind). Started in GL, and for the first time ever started in the front of the bunch (I normally hide in the back) but found myself there by accident. Anyway started with the front guys and got dropped at about 40km's (I'm guessing distance as my sensor wasn't picking up my speed and distance). Then I sat nicely with a bunch of about 25 from the FL group. (It was nice to ride there as it was very cool to have actually caught guys who started ahead of me for the first time , I'm normally the one who get's caught) Anyway got to the turn around and was still sitting nicely in this bunch, praying that the guys aren?t going to pick up speed into the wind as I knew what was coming and lone behold they did. So Solo?ed for about 15 to 20 km?s until I caught up to a nice big bunch again, then I blew a bit as I had not eaten anything (I was too busy watching wheels and trying to stay with the bunch, these guys at the back are dangerous in big groups, so you dare not move your hand away from your brakes) and dropped off. Slowed down and had a few bites of my protein bar and off I went again and Solo?ed for about 10km?s or so. A very nice little group of 5 caught up to me and the 6 of us rode nicely together until a faster bunch caught up with us and we jumped on (This bunch thing is really fun!!!). Anyway the bunch split a bit and I did my bit up front to pull about 5 of us back to the front group. Sat with them for a while and did my bit at the front for a little while as I was really tired by then. I then dropped off at about 19km?s to go (I know this distance as I asked the guy who dropped off with me how far to the end), There were about 4 or 5 of us left (I?m not sure how many exactly as the guys just sat on my wheel) and I did all the work upfront. Then 3km?s from the end Zaskar came back for me and helped me by sitting in the front for the last 3 km?s, thanks Zas!!!!!!!! (with my friends in tow ? ok they did make for good entertainment, we had one guys telling jokes and another doing a count down to the end on every kilometre, while I was battling up front) They did however say thank you when we crossed the finish line. So all in all a good race, my best time yet on a 100km (ok 98km) race, which I am happy with!!!! The first time ever I got to ride with bunches and actually feels what it?s like to not have to ride on your own for 4 hrs. I rode like crazy to try and get in under 3hrs, but that wind and not eating didn?t really help! So next time!!! I ended on a 3:24:18. (Don't ask why it posted underlyning everything) amateur2007-11-12 03:01:15
  3. Hey 5 TCS tandems to the start, don't forget Chilli and Beee Well done girls for winning the ladies tandem cat!!!!
  4. Also late sorry girl. But I hope you had a fabulous day. I know what you mean about those wheels that go GGGGGRRRRRRRR. Also always wanted some and now I have with the new bike. Only problem is now everyone can hear when you are 'loafing' in the bunch Had it yesterday a few times, was sitting 2nd and 3rd wheel at different times and everytime I free-wheeled the guy in front looked back at me, he he he ..... oops!! Now before anyone says anything I did do my bit at the front as well!!!!
  5. Don't know how we will inforce it, I still see fools riding without helmet's!! Must be honest most guys in the North/West, (ok around the Randburg area, look like spaceships in the morning), you spot them miles off. We actually comment on each other now when we pass, saying things like "Glad to see another UFO has landed" (corney but it acknowledges the money they guys spent, that he is seen).
  6. EINA DONNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. MY VOTE FOR MR JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Thankfully we didn't have any firewaorks in our area, unlike last year. I have no problem phoning the cops on them and telling them I did it as well, as shooting fireworks in a residential area is against the law, and if the cops don't come in 10 minutes I phone again, and again and again until they do. (maybe that's why no one around us did it this year) New year's for me is a bigger problem as some chop a couple of houses down feels the need every year, even though his dogs are petrified as well. He just doesn't care!! And putting the HI-Fi on doesn't work for mine they have excelent hearing and the sound of the music doesn't make a diffirence. They never used to be scared of lightning or fireworks until one diwali some idiot in the complex behind us was letting off fireworks and one came into my yard and exploded then, while my dogs were outside, you can imagine what that must have sounded like to them!!! Now the slightest thunder and lightning or fireworks I have a german sheppard and a big 40kg staffie fighting for the lap of the closest human to protect them. Makes me so angry!!!!! Why can't people just stick to the rules, why is it so difficult in this country?????
  9. June julle kinders kan lekker bollie praat as julle lus het But seriously, Narra, Epoh have you made arrangements with Sonic or do you still need that lift? Let me know!!
  10. Saw something similar to this on Tuesday, was playing Golf at Dainfern and because the houses are all around the course you can take your dog for a walk and stuff. This big fat guy was taking this beautifull Golden Retreiver for a run, but needles to say he was driving in the Golf cart and the dog was doing the running. I thought that was terrible because if any one of them needed the exercise it was him not the dog. Funny though the lady I was playing with shouted that at him as I was thinking it!!!!!
  11. Hey Timms, Yeah nice meeting you and pleasure, but no thanks to me I just hung in there for dear life while the boys worked. Sorry we got mixed up at the end and couldn't chat. See you at the next race!
  12. I think it's OJ Simpson???
  13. I have liners on my mtb and have not had a puncture in 3 years!!! Ok I don't do technical but I can't hold my line on singletrack properly either so I go off the trail allot, and have pulled big thorns and stuff out of my tyres, but no punctures. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Don't have liners on the road bike and had punctures a-plenty, one on almost every ride, sometimes even two and yes checked the tyres inside and out every time, and with different sets, just bad luck I suppose!!!! I have recently bought a set of gatorskins (although I have not put them on yet) when I bought my bike it had a set of '<?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Vitoria" or something like that tyres on (ewep help me out here, you know what they are), and have been lucky thus far!!!! But if these and the gatorskins don't hold out, I'll be putting liners in. I'm not going to be winning any races soon, so the weight issue isn't a problem for me. amateur2007-10-11 03:57:46
  14. that has to hurt .... when he lands without shocks???
  15. Does that 'non license enforement' then not apply for the Shova aswell???
  16. I was going to ask if that wasn't Lilo in the Harmony kit!!! Well done guys and girls!!!!
  17. Well Done Barend!!!!
  18. Also heard that Ian Martin and his partner (sorry don't know the guy's name) are also going to be racing, they are also strong! They are in fact Std Bnk's no1 tandem, so I think the two tandems will work well together. But I agree with SP - it's going to be a close call, but personally I would like to see Thompson/Kilpatrick take it.
  19. yeah you're right, sorry I meant 3 placing - 3rd, 4th and 5th - not too shabby.
  20. Those standard bank boys just got 3 medals at worlds, they are strong!!!! Chippy - Kilpatrick has an eye-condition, beleive me there is nothing wrong with that boys ability in terms of riding! This is going to be a tuff one to call. Yikes I don't know!!!! Think I'm going to stay on the fence on this one Will see what happens at campus to campus this weekend as well, before I make a decision on who will win at shova.
  21. Glad to hear you are OK wolvie!!!! Good on you for getting them, buggers!!! (I'm working on my rage and PC issues )
  22. Thug we can meet you on the road and you can follow us there! Or else I can just give you directions???amateur2007-09-13 06:15:20
