    No Problems on my account...Have ridden all week and strava recording and linking my rides on Vitality.However my wife's Garmin has been linked but not given her any points for 2 weeks.They are addressing the issue...must say the call in center are a friendly lot.

    I use Finish line -dry...and have used it for over 10 years...winter and summer...i keep my chain/chainrings and cluster as clean as possible and lube every second ride or so. I've tried plenty of other lubes but find although they do the job the dust just packs on to fast and always end up going back to Finish line

    When my xt levers packed up i just bought 2 Slx levers and switched the covers so the slx body doesn't have the free stroke adjust...that doesn't work on the XT anyway...the SLX lever adjustment knobs are slightly different but not enough for anyone to notice . PS. I had the XT..I spec b mounted with shifters...The SLX uses the floating bolt mount so you have to have or acquire the different mounting bolts.

    This made me think - how does one handle such a situation when you cant stop? Go past head or tail, or through the middle? Bunny hop? Ride over it and hope it doesn't catch the spokes? Would love to hear others stories. if it is stretched out ,just ride past the rear end if you don't touch it it is very likely to strike.But always bear in mind puffies can strike backwards.

    Ja...Quite a surreal experience. I have had quite a few sightings while mntbiking over the years,Cobras ,puffies and mole snake my biking Buddy is a snake nut and relishes every sighting...He's disappointment ...he wasn't out riding with me when i got Tagged.

    I got tagged a couple of weeks back while mtbbiking ...My long vis is not so hot any more i saw the this strange black plant thickish stem bulbous head standing up about 50 cm high in the path... then it disappeared.As I passed the spot i caught a flash of movement to my right and got stuck on the arm...just piercing the skin.i stopped a little further down no sign of the snake by then...the 2 holes were bleeding freely and the blood seemed diluted. So the snake was either a Rinkhals or a cobra luckily both don't necessarily inject poison on every strike.As it was very black and although rare in our area it was probably a Rinkhals. This was on the Tokai side the path along the fence next to a very reedy spot at the river. 2 days ago a woman stepped on a puffie in the Tokai walking /horse ridding park luckilly she was wearing wellington boots and it didn't pierce the rubber. Just a note of caution although lazy remember a Puffadder can stike backwards .

    Cool news on Silvermine opening,Da*** had to edit ok only 140 days to christmas ...Does any one know if they are going to give us a path down to Tokai/Zwaanswyk rd...I'm not to fond of riding the Oukaapse weg rd ...Have a couple of cycling friends with long term injuries after being hit by cars on this section.

    Yep I carry one of the lighter ones ...It fits into the pump slot on the side of my Camelbak I have a stretchy cord attached to it that runs over my shoulder to the chest harness.I can pull it out within seconds.

    "Time frames given where that Silvermine would likely open in October and Tokai in 18 months or so." MMM only 4 months to go..until i can get off that windy Devils peak,now just to find a path up to Silvermine from Tokai and avoid the tar road.

    I have and use the Thule 2 bike carrier all the time And paid R1200 for it New ,I think Bridge was offering them for R1299 a couple of months back. I have the Scott genius 940 and it fits great . Note if you drive an suv or a vehicle with a high rear window ..although it is a Two bike Rack...if you are carrying 2 bikes with bars that are 720+ it would call for loosening and shifting one set of the bars.

    Awesome maps...Wouldn't it be fantastic to see one from Dear-path all the way to Cape point...Send it to Hellen Zilla and get the Peninsula Epic up and running. seriously I would really enjoy seeing a proposed Dream trail.

    Eventually splashed out and got A Rockshox Reverb stealth ...Now just need an automated Tyre pressure control from the Handle bar and i'll be set.

    I spoke to a friend of mine who lives up in Zwaanswyk..Apparently some folks are entering the restricted areas along the Zwaanswyk boundary.Residents have been warned they face a R15000 fine for entering the area and they might loose the access gate from Zwaanswyk into the lower area for future use.

    I can just imagine this...The Metro OC standing in front of the morning briefing and Saying remember guys that cyclists must cycle on the left hand side of the road ..Raising he's left hand to emphasise the statement...Forgetting all the metro cops are facing forward.

    seriously windy with a sprinkle of rain on the Tokai trails today, at one point the wind was so strong I was peddling to go downhill

    Was with Santam...had a bike accident claim and stolen bike claim..They paid out in full no problems. Now I'm with discovery insure and they paid out my claim after a nasty fall not only damage to bike but helmet and cycling top as well. Insure your goods to the correct values check with your broker what is covered and what isn't .Then the big thing if you put in claims every second week even the most obliging company's are going to revue your insurability.
