  1. brilliant! - is it yours Icycling?
  2. A couple of years ago after I was attacked, I was asked to donate money to the BMX project which I did. Sadly the problem still hang around. One would think someone from the community see the opportunity to put up a 'beach lifesaver' tower there and ensure security during peak cycling hours. (Advertising space on such a tower must be worth something and it should not be difficult to find monthly donations to cover a salary or two.)

  4. An extended wine-tasting session Saturday caused a post-mortem ride Sunday morning. That together with the extreme heat caused a bailout by me and the missus halfway up the waterfall. A quick coke at the nursery and the single-track back along the river was absolutely brilliant. Found the tracks excellent and well marked. All the little switchbacks and bridges make it really fun. Will definitely back, on a cooler weekend though. Thanks to the friendly help in Euodia, all the track builders & landowners to make it possible
  5. I was also scratching my head and wondering who gets the yersey. All tje arguments are there but no decision.
  6. Good to hear - we will be there this weekend. From the description below - is the Waterfall and W2W river track included in the red route? It sounds like there is waterfalls on the red route and I can see the W2W river segment in Strava, but would be nice to have it confirmed. I'm always keen to see more, but we stay with hosts and cant be away for to long - the black route is indicated as 3-5 hours. The red might be perfect, especially if we see the mentioned scenic bits... Will also talk to Euodia Cycles Saturday morning. http://www.mtbroutes...n-hermanus.html
  7. I was amazed: How loose the first 2 or 3 bunches worked that sandy patches. I wish I had taken before and after photos. How big the leading 2 or 3 bunches was - no changes of really picking a line. How the big bunches disintegrated on Malanshoogte. How brutal that last 12-15 km is. (and I was on a motorbike) Well done all!

  9. just make sure it is a different lady waiting every time, then no helmet required
  10. ditto - started to enter and then saw the total for the tandem. One can cycle somewhere, stay in B&B and cycle back the next day for that money.
  11. Included in a coffee - a 'bike pass' to go trough the estate and thereby skip the ''turn' Stellenbosch traffic when using the R44 & R304.
  12. thanks, blushing - really need to read until the last 3 words for that
  13. So what day do we see the first photo? (At least one was submitted yesterday)
  14. You could say that again - in 260km, on a Sunday afternoon I had seen 4 humans: a donkey car carrying a mom & two kids as well as a farmworker fixing a flat on his farm bakkie.
  15. damn, time to call my ex for a chat
  16. Enter the sportif http://www.sport.be/classicchallenge/1314/ and do it yourself. The Flemish is friendly and praat die taal.
  17. I rode the route 'down' with a motorbike yesterday. Oh man, this is far....but the scenery - priceless. Ouberg was covered with very loose gravel/tennisballs in the last week or two. The word 'slippery' cant described it. tempted
  18. brilliant.. Good luck! Have loads of fun! tsk tsk...one day....
  19. I met two touring Potch students just outside Stilbaai with 6mm steel round bar racks that they built/welted in one evening for less that R20 each. After several 2000km+ off-road it was still going well. Made me blush with my expensive Old man mountain racks... but then, my time is a bit more restricted to sit with a broken rack next to the road. But it prove that it can be done cheap.
  20. Then you are at the wrong place - this might work better: http://www.capetowngiants.org.za/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=66
  21. +1, can't highlight this enough. Buy the best you can afford. (definitely not the lightest) My original front wheel imploded after a couple of meters on the rim after a blowout on a downhill, not pretty... surprised my wife is still getting back on.
