  1. Spezza? Do you also go ride it at Jonkies?
  2. Yup. I bought a Stumpjumper FSR Comp in 2013 for R30k. Same model (better spec compared to my old one, but still) is now R50k. Let's adjust for the after market dropper that I had to procure and call it R33k. It's still in the region of 50% inflation over the last three years, which mirrors what the ZAR has been undergoing the last three years too. Will we see price drops for the next cycle of models if the ZAR stays around the R13 mark? Somehow I doubt that.
  3. interesting suspension spec. Elite and Comp both come with Monarch Plus and then a Lyrik / Yari set at 160mm. So no more Pike for the Enduro line-up. Really expensive bikes but sadly not entirely out of touch with competitor pricing. Even direct sales brands are in the R70k's for their carbon offerings with similar spec. But yeah, R55k for an alu bike with ok'ish wheels and a GX drivetrain is where we're at.
  4. I like the Giro. Looks a billion times safer than the Bell.
  5. Dude, just like food prices go up and never come down, don't get your hopes up for ever seeing a sub R40k bike again.
  6. Not recommended viewing 6am at the office
  7. Ja I have it on good authority that all the logged and burnt forests in Jonkers have already undergone an aggresive re-planting process so in three to five years from now we'll be ripping through nice 3-5m forests all over JOnkers. Thanks to MTO.
  8. OK, looks like it'll be getting some attention this month then. Thanks for the feedback.
  9. Well if their commitment to the sport as reflected in jonkershoek is anything to go by I'd be dancing for joy instead of criticising...alas, 'tis the way of the Hubber.
  10. However, Droo, I suspect the bike was boxed for about a year at the shop before I bought it. Is it possible that the oil "dried up" or the seals perished in that state without exposure to any riding or elements?
  11. Fork is brand new. Got it in mid-May and has about 30 hours on it max. It's not stiction as in, sticky. I just expected a bit more in smoothness having read all the OMGEEEETHISISBETTERTHANSLICEDBREAD...
  12. Iwan, any feedback on the Brunox? Just bought a can to address some stiction issues on my Pike, and from what I can see online the reviews are good. Would like to see what you've experienced though.
  13. According to Giant's marketing spiel, this latest iteration will allow riders to "climb like an XC racer and descend like an enduro pro." Daar's inderdaad niks nuut onder die son nie.
  14. And Curtis Keene is suddenly a thing again. The rider that still impresses me the most is Jerome Clementz. Started poorly and just idling along quietly by himself. Not much fanfare and now he's sitting 3rd overall. Classy rider.
  15. Ja I'm referring to compression feeling too high, but it is set rather soft. I'm yet to bottom it out. In fact I haven't gotten it past about 70% travel on the 160mm, despite hitting all the usual lines I ride. Which is why I'm thinking there's too much ramp-up. Will try running more sag to cycle through the travel better and then add some air back. If that doesn't work for me I'm dropping a token.
  16. Same issue with my RCT3. Installed an additional token to the stock one in there and eventually dropped pressures to about 20psi below what the fork sticker recommends. Sag is at about 30% and it is starting to feel like I enjoy some small bump performance. I still think I should rather remove the one token I put in and add a few psi. I think I've made it too harsh.
  17. http://m.pinkbike.com/news/richie-rudes-yeti-sb6-bike-check-ews-round-5-aspen-snowmass-2016.html Don't tell Myles. 740mm bar with 60mm stem *shock horror EWS wins*
  18. Reckon you better be quick to ride that E1
  19. Contact Duane Bosch on here. He'll have a good estimate, but I guess around R30k. Worth every penny.
  20. Jeepers, someone packed their big boy pants! Nice one!
  21. Is that seatpost what I think it is? Boner-worthy build (except for those tyres, but I guess for where you ride...)
  22. Yeah I suspect it's not a problem. You will not find a nicer bunch of folk. Pity we see them so seldom in Paarl anymore. They've matured to more big boy pants tracks of late
  23. That kid with the Kona Stinky looks like he has zero f#cks to give. I like!
