  1. That was ciolek. But I think, at tht level, understandable, yeah? My particular piece of hurt was the cervelo and it's Di2 derailer dragged and bashed on the floor in the same rant, after the rear wheel fell out. Bikes worth more than my ******* car.
  2. Windy ride on the R44 this afternoon.
  3. Not always so smart. Ride slow, but long, to get even faster. But do what you like, just do some more research on that theory.
  4. Te high tempo intervals are thereto help your sprinting and intense bursts. What has helped me is longer intervals. I do indoor intervals of ten mins at 90%, then rest. Do that three times. Then, daily, cut your rest time down and increase the number of intervals weekly. I now race according to that heart rate, and it's all I watch. It's now my biggest number on my gps. But I don't burn myself, and don't get lazy. Im in that sweet spot of good performance and endurance. No expert here but it works for me!
  5. Yeah techniblock is my favourite. It works for bike and golf course, and you don have sticky hands. Seems to keep the sun off, my skin is either white or burnt, so I struggle with this is particular. Techniblock has been the only one that works, but is damn expensive.

Yeah. I missed out on mine last year and they were happy to help, as long as you collected in PTA. The finish line distance from everything else was a joke. Really pissed me off that I had like 2kms more of riding before I could get a drink. Just feel some additional thinking was required with that one.

3:27 official! Was surprised, I was on my own the last climbs and the wind was an absolute bastard. C bunch was great though, hard hard work but great bunch. Good riding chaps! Nice to meet some Hubbers too!! Must say, was disappointed about the route beforehand, but absolute monster still!! Next is 94.7 and jut real till then!

Thank you god. Haha only joking. I must admit, I'm disappointed with the route change. Last years ride was the first and only time since that I've really had to go out and plead with the Man with the Hammer. It was a ride that broke me in so many ways. But, it made me certain I loved riding. It made me feel fragile, alive. And powerful. The fact that I could vocally tell my legs to shut the hell up, I'm stronger than me. Now, it'll just be another ride I guess. I'll miss the old route.
  12. Try theriot.co.za. When I was into bmx, they always had some pretty cool stuff!
  13. I think a lot of you have some apologizing to do over on the first thread!!! Glad he's cleared though. Never knew about the payback clause. I doubt someone would be quickly persuaded to dope with that kinda treat over your head!! Well done Daryl. Shitty move right before or tour. I think some proper apologies are in order from the asshats at SAIDS
  14. Awesome guys ideal with, and excellent quality goods. Go for it.
  15. Scott foil makes me all fuzzy. By for those specs and price range, you have a ton of choice. But the one that makes you happy. Parts and bits can (and will) be replaced anyway, so if it comes down to paint, buy the one that you smile very time you look at it.

  17. Replace the rims. You'll do it later anyway.
  18. Difference in braking power is not the issue. The issue with them all moving over, is neutral service support. They will all need to move to one standard as then the neutral support will only have that standard.
  19. Really enjoyed my race today!!! Started in b and had a great ride. Some lazy buggers who didn't wat to share the work, but rode well until my fat ass got dropped on the hill!! 40kms of time trialling after that until I got picked up by the vets who pulled me home at immense speeds! Finished in 3:10, 12 mins faster than last year! Super stoked. Glad we managed to avoid a crash despite a proper touch of wheels. Still have the tread marks on my shoes! Wind wasn't terrible, rain stayed away, and relatively quiet roads were great. The Marshall who escorted us was incredible, thank you sir Had a great ride!! If you didn't make it, you missed out!
  20. Seeded in A but will likely start with B as I'm coming back from a crappy cold!! But liking forward to it. Hopefully no rain like last year. Took three days before all the water was out of my frame!! Hoping for sub 3:20.... Hmmmmm
  21. I think anyone who has been involved in cycling for a few months knows the difference. We all know carbon is wonderfully strong, light and comfortable but will not hold up in a crash. But frankly, the only thing I buy with crashing in mind is my helmet. My carbon wheels as wheelsets are insured, and I ride with the knowledge that should I crash, my race is over an I'm most likely going to have to replace the frame and or wheels. Don't see what the fuss is. It's not the perfect material, but it's pretty darn good for what it does well.
  22. I love the weight argument. Have a good mate who is obsessed about weight on his MTB, but still doesn't win. Look to the pros. Mountain stage? Same frames, lightweight wheelset. Flat stage? Aero frame, deep as a springs prossie wheels. Yes, we say that, in a race, you're in a bunch so aero doesn't matter. But consider your last race. How often were you in the bunch? And when you get dropped, do you want aero or lightweight?? Also consider the average SA race profile. We have comparatively flat races vs Europe. We don't have alp d huez, so why worry about weight that much?? I'm heavy, and my bike is built with both cost ad reliability in mind. When I train consistently, I keep up with anyone on the hills, yet the flats I can dominate. You decide, but I think super light bikes are only really worth it in the mountains, and even then, unless you're a 60kg pro, you're not going to use the advantage to its full potential.
  23. While not a mountain biker, the following applies to all forms of semi competitive riding. I believe you buy the nicest bike you can afford. But always budget in money for contact points and major energy loss points. Ie, save money for top end bibs, a saddle that fits your ass, decent bars that fit and are comfortable. Decent stiff shoes that you don't lose power through, etc. When you're comfortable, you get to only focus on the riding. When you're complaining about sore hands, neck, back, gooch, sunglasses that fog up quickly, a helmet you fell all ride long, that **** ruins your ride and slows you down. Get comfy, and ride the bike you love to be on. The one that makes you smile. Done man
  24. So I thought some follow up is in order, both or those who've replied and those who may be looking! Went fort first ride with the group two weeks ago Saturday. Chose to ride d2 just to be safe - 74 kms @ 24 km/h. Vibe was awesome!! David Marshall was great in answering all my silly questions as we rode along, and the real marshals were great. Always rode max two abreast, and the pace was nice an relaxed. Group was chatty, which was a nice change from the long lonely rides, as everyone was well behaved - held their lines, paced well up front, and stopped at red lights!! So, I went again last week and tried d1, 93kms @ 26kph. Group felt a lot more serious and was quiet for the first few kms, but we all warme to each other in the end. Once again, pace was great, you feel nice and secure in the fact that, if anything goes wrong, you'll be fine! Apart from some tossers splitting the group on the way back, we all had a good ride! I joined today:) Only thing I can bitch about is the pacing... While the average speed is perfect, we seem to keep it all the time! Feels slow on the flats and then you're not allowed to slow down on the uphills! I suppose I only notice because I'm a fatty, but it's the only thing that feels slightly out of kilter! For anyone on here who I rode with, I'll hopefully be in blue next time and leave the lump yellow shirt at home!
