  1. And with the Right to Roam law in Scotland you can ride wherever you like. How cool is that.......
  2. You get tubeless presta valves that have a big base to cover the big hole in the shrader type rims. I suggest you use Gorilla tape and tubeless presta valves.
  3. Yeah right
  4. I'm using Maxxis Icon's and really like them. Good grip, light and seem to be lasting really well. I ride in the Baakens Valley, Addo - Heyterdale area, Longmore and Hopewell e.t.c and no problems at all with them. And if you shop arround you can get them for under R500.00.
  5. Not sure if this helps much, but here are all of the Arno's.
  6. I'm not so sure that these bikes should be compared to each other. The Scott Spark is a Cross Country/Marathon bike, whereas the Ghost AMR 2955 is an All Mountain/Trail bike. So buy the one that is best suited to the type of riding you want to do and not the one with the best components.
  7. I find that my SRAM link is easy to remove without the pliers but the KMC one no ways. You actually have to apply quite a bit of pressure to the pedals when installing the KMC link to get it to click into place.
  8. You certainly will make up more times on the climbs, but in my case I was cramping so badly I had to nurse my legs up the climbs. I bombed down the hills but never beyond my limits. If anyone saw a guy on a white BMC with a green top on flying down the hills and crawling up the hills, that was me.

  10. I was going strong the first 50k's then I started cramping badly. Ended up bombing down the downhills and crawling up the uphills. Managed to finish 50th in the D group.
  11. Do you want to do some weight training to improve your cycling or do you just want to bulk up on unneccessary muscle? If it is to improve your cycling then you shouldn't need more than 100kg's or else as mentioned some kettlebells. You can greatly improve your core strength with kettlebells which will improve your cycling. Have a look at bikejames.com.
  12. Cable tied mine to the bike on Wednesday already to make sure I don't forget it.
  13. Yes you do. And lately the traffic cops have been enforcing this strictly.
  14. Get some quotes from a couple of courier companies. A frame shouldn't cost more than R200.00. I just bought a complete bike from Velo Life and it only cost R180.00 to courier from Somerset West to PE.
  15. Guys if you have the flu please don't go ride the Karoo to Coast. When I got to the top of the Simola Hill last year (10km's from the finish) the paramedics were doing CPR on someone, and unfortunately the guy did not make it. It was very upsetting to see this. There are some long climbs and they take it out of you.
  16. OK sorry 12 then. Still far from the 19 for the K2C. "the youngest riders in the main event being 12 years old or 11 if on a tandem with an adult."
  17. I did it last year for the first time. And yes no way a 10 old is going to do it, but a 16 - 18 year old that has trained, sure.
  18. Why is it that a 10 year old can enter the Argus but you have to be 19 to enter the K2C?
  19. Probably just a bed in a communal room, but I'm sure it will be warmer that a tent.
  20. So do I. It was a lonely 92km. No other cyclists around this morning. I think everyone was watching the PE-Plett riders.
  21. My last long ride this morning before the K2C.
  22. The closer it gets the better it looks
  23. Actually 0 – 350 ELITES: Red = Group A 390 – 980: Yellow = Group B 1000 – 1610: Green = Group C 2000 – 2630: Blue = Group D 3000 – 3630: Orange = Group E 4000 – 4630: White = Group F 5000 – 5600: Purple = Group G
  24. Steven if you were racing for a position then you needed to use the gravel road section at the start to get in front of the slower riders. Remember that in the race briefing riders are asked to give way when there is place to do so and there is not always place to pull over on singletrack to allow faster riders past. That been said the singletrack at Hopewell is not very narrow so I don't see how one rider could hold so many people back for so long.
  25. I am chaffed, G group last year now D group this year. Hopefully not as much congestion on the Ou Wa Pad.
