  1. No, SAIDS got it right, they did get traces of the masking agent, its not on them to prove how it got there.
  2. You see, this is where you are being narrow minded. In the article (if I'm correct, otherwise I apologize) it was stated that the validity of his claims were tested. So they had proof that, with the receipt before his own, that the contaminant was handled before his capsules were and they (Impey and crew) probably spent the other six weeks to prove that enough of the contaminant could be cross contaminated. This means that he can get "off" with reasonable doubt, because he had enough proof. The other examples you mention has no way of proving the contaminants. Hearsay of a nurse spilling some in your coffee will never stand in a court of law.
  3. Please read what I have said previously. Remember, our cycling isn't the high be all end all sport that is tested, SAIDS have numerous sports that gets tested and then those samples have to sit in line and wait for its chance to be tested, for more than one thing, so numerous tests, its not just a one week thing.
  4. Oh and sorry if you mean that the result was presented to them 7 weeks before they announced it, I do not know if that is true, as I have not read any evidence about it, if it is, then I'm certain there is a logical (or logistical) reason to it, if they do not have a reason, then Impey may have a chance to take them on, but chances would be slim for him to salvage any thing lost from SAIDS. Anyway, I'm happy that he did get the opportunity to prove his innocence, as it did not look likely.
  5. Actually, they outsource a lab to do the testing for them. Have you thought of all the tests that have to be done across all sporting codes, by that said lab, and then they do other testing for hospitals etc. as well. Our Cycling tests are just in the bundle, no special treatment, so it waits in line with all the other tests. SAIDS has no control in the amount of time it takes for the tests to be done and certainly cannot bump one sports persons test up the line, as all the samples are nameless and treated equally. The only person that can be blamed for being at fault, is the Pharmacist.
  6. Actually SAIDS has no fault on their side. They did the test according to protocol (no matter how long it takes to get the results, which sometimes are up to the labs and not SAIDS) and gave the results and suspension, they heard his side (and tested it, as it was his job to defend himself and prove himself not guilty) and withdrew the allegations/sanctioning. They did their job, correctly and thoroughly at that.
  7. Your LBS should have a BB facing tool, its actually quite simple. You should be able to get a shimano freebody for your scirocco wheels, just ask at your LBS.
  8. uhm, road bikes have been 29" for a long time
  9. Don't blame the people that was chosen to go and represent for not always living up to your expectations, they were given the opportunity, because one of our Girls ranked top 5, so SASCOC said that they can send a full compliment to try and support, so they sent the best that this country has got. I feel that most of them did well with what they have to their disposal and that was mostly only local MTB races, something that will never get you conditioned, but its better for Ashley to be on the start line as one of the favorites, with team mates around you and thinking, I have a chance, than to stand there alone and think, there is no chance. I feel more saddened that before the previous Olympics, everything was done to try and qualify more ladies. We had a international ladies tour, we had almost 5 local ladies teams and women were made to work harder to win races on various ways. But all of that has fallen away and we barely have one ladies team left, cycling SA has rather let our Ladies down and they still made us proud.
  10. how old are you by the way?
  11. ok, see you got it as I was typing.
  12. If you look here: http://results.glasgow2014.com/event/cycling_mountain_bike/cmw021101/womens_cross_country.html Click on the light blue arrow on the riht of each participants name and you will find their lap stats. Mariske was 12 after lap 3 or 4, more than 2min down.
  13. You should be able to patch it from the inside with one of the older type car tube patches. (Those that has the red base and black top) Remove the tire, clean the area around the cut properly (on the inside) and allow to dry completely. Then take normal patch glue and apply generously to an area larger that the patch and allow to dry. then add another layer and allow to dry, until tacky. Apply the patch and heat it with a hair dryer, while applying pressure. when nicely heated, then clamp it in between something (like a vice and 2 peaces of wood), then leave overnight. It should keep it properly airtight after that. After remounting, pump the tire and check how much it opens, then fill the gap with some black silicone and allow to dry properly. That should fix it.
  14. It looks like a sram rival bb30 crank, so you will need a sram bb30 driveside crank at least, and a frame that takes bb30.
  15. That is true, I do understand that, and that some of the stuff can test positive for only being a masking agent and not detrimental to health
  16. I get all of you, but also, when your doctor prescribes you this medication, also ask him if he would recommend strenuous exercise or races while on it and how long after you can start training again. See, it is also testing is also there to stop you when on something dangerous, but most people don't even bother asking their doctor when they can continue. Besides that, everyone (not aimed at BAT's comment above) is saying that its a backmarker funrider and this has never been proved. Just because YOU don't know about him, does not mean he is not a serious racing guy, that may target SA champs or world in his age group. All of you just ASSUME that he is a backmarker funrider. It could just as well be that there has never been a cyclosport or funrider tested and that all of these guys DO have full racing licenses, subjecting them to fall under all scrutiny and testing protocols.
  17. Ok puzzled then, I would see it as follow. Junior sees dad popping a pill before a race: Junior: "Why are you taking those pills daddy?" Dad: "Ag, just for that extra oomph son" Junior gets dropped on the race and is miffed because daddy does so good. Next race junior recons he should also maybe try daddy's pills to help him and junior wins the race. Two outcomes; junior dies at young age or gets busted for doping at Elite level.
  18. All these guys complaining about a Vet getting tested, are scared that you are next?
  19. Sorry, meant Boss, slip of the G.
  20. Uhm, you know that he actually won the Tour of Turkey a while back (when Goss made him crash on final day), not out of nowhere, just not in your radar.
  21. So not a good track record for our doping authorities, maybe setting up a president in court.
  22. Didn't the comrades runner get off because of technicalities with testing, think it was last year or something, and I recall the same with some rugby players. (Too lazy to google)
  23. You have actually taken away an award winning invention to speed up wheel removal and replaced it with the same technology used in a 90s pick&pay special. But, besides that, if you can use an Aluminium shaft with a quick release function, then that would be something. Other than that, it will stiffen it up a bit.
  24. Must say, that rival22 with hydraulic rim brakes looks very attractive! But price looks to be close to R12000 , for Rival.
  25. Tipies afrikaans, kan hydraulic spel maar skryf road verkeerd!
