  1. How do you import the watch workout into Strava then?

Don't you use the Strava app on your watch at all? How does the Sync work then to Strava? Healthfit app?

You open strava, click on the link and it automatically imports it, once you’ve set it up. Literally takes about 5 seconds per workout

  2. It definitely not suitable for tracking something in excess of a range of say 100m

It’ll give you a location anywhere in the world as long as someone with an iPhone passes by it at some stage.

  3. I hit the link now getting spammed with ads for Vanmoof.  :whistling:

I have not seen one but they look intriguing. Holland being flat might not be the best place to source an ebike from to climb hills. I like that they are out of the ordinary and a great concept.

If it will do the job you need it to, go for it.

Thanks - they appear to be very popular in Silicon Valley as well, which is pretty hilly. I like the simple look, but maybe I am just channeling my inner hipster

  4. Finance a bike if it brings you pleasure and you can afford it. I hate financing and it eats away at me if I owe for something I don’t need, but that’s my problem, not anyone else’s. My good mate finances all his toys and doesn’t lose a moments sleep over it. In the last 5 years he’s bought a ghost e-MTB, a gravel bike and an enduro bike, all on finance. He can afford it, he loves the bikes and doesn’t stress. Good luck to him. Having said that, 0% interest offers don’t hurt either.

If the OP wants to finance a bike and live in a shack, good for him if it makes him happy. If he wants to finance a bike because he has massive investments that he can’t touch, also good for him.

  5. Our new house has no way to approach it without climbing a massive hill, regardless of which direction you’re coming from, so I am considering an ebike for commuting and shopping trips etc as I am reluctant to have to take a step backwards and buy another car and want to be able to shoot out to the shops and not be a sweaty mess when I get home.

I came across vanmoof.com a few weeks ago and am really intrigued. I like the simplicity, the look and the cool tracking and anti theft features. The option to pay a bit more at purchase and get a team hunting down my bike if it’s stolen is pretty cool as well.

I can’t find anyone locally who has one and there are no shops in Ireland who stock them (they have concept stores in major cities), so I would have to buy blind, but am reassured by the fact that the likes of Apple have partnered with them to support tracking through the find my app.

Just wondering if anyone has experience of these bikes and could offer some real world feeedback.

  6. considering I have trouble tracking down iphones and ipads using the "findMy" app I'm skeptical to the effectiveness of this for items lost out of your immediate vicinity.

Different tech. The air tag uses all the phones (regardless of who owns them) in the vicinity of your airtag to track your item. The tracking on an iPad etc will depend on it being connected to the internet.

This is the most comprehensive explanation that I have seen.

  7. Is all the Irwin stuff in your part of the world orange and black?

In NZ and Aus it's typically blue and yellow. Just wondering if they "regionalise" it?!

Not sure - was in to do click and collect on the other stuff and they had the saws on special at the counter so I just picked one up.

Edit: just checked online and it seems to be blue and yellow normally

  8. Finally settled on a brushcutter on the weekend. Choice was between the Dewalt and the Makita battery options. Ended up with the Makita as it came with all the accessories I need as well as two extra free batteries. String, plastic blade, metal blade, harness etc all included.

Some beast. Battery runs about thirty mins in thick vegetation and takes 45 mins to charge, so all set with 3 sets of batteries.

But we use a couple of other brand's hand saws for work, and if I don't use the silky, I reach for a chainsaw. And no one else may use my Silky on site.

Playing with mine it feels like a really quality product, like a leatherman, which many imitate but few match.

  10. 21m is still plenty long.

    Enjoy.

    Yip, Arbor Supply imports them.

Oooh, that reminds me, I still want/need a Silky Pocket Boy.

Lol - you’ve started me down a dangerous path. Some quality of saw. Was wondering around our current neighbourhood yesterday looking for something to saw. Quite startling how good the silky is.

Anyway, was looking at their website and videos last night and am now trying to think of reasons why I don’t desperately need a katanaboy.

  11. I could only do 5km tonight. Started feeling very nauseous and dizzy. Guess my body will take some time to get with the program.

Thank you to every one for the support over the past two years. Some days have been bloody bad, but I have a mission and I can’t let everyone on Bikehub down! I have to win this!

Mate, after all the struggles you’ve battled through and shared on this thread, this pic made a lump in my throat. Enjoy every minute.
