  1. Nobody wants strangers riding around their yard or across their front lawn; except for the size of their yards or lawns farmers are no different. Trespassing should have consequences!
  2. +1 We used to trail run through there, plenty dodgy characters! Eventually decided it wasn't worth the risk even though the Jhb skyline views are superb and it's actually a really nice section to run.
  3. Mods got there first - ad went AWOL
  4. That's just wrong on so many levels Enjoy it Dave
  5. Just be careful not to damage it!
  6. Just an idea - surely any of the smaller engineering works would be able to turn a standard 27.2mm seat post down to 27.0mm?
  7. Easy enough to do yourself - strip off bike, sand, sand, sand some more, polish, refit. It's pretty dirty work but looks great when done. Here's a pic of the XT crank I did for the SS build.
  8. Two ply sidewalls
  9. Meet Strawberry, my little girl's bunny
  10. Current pricing at Evobikes (CWC normally very similar unless they're running a special) Shimano Zee @ R3495 Shimano SLX @ R2195 Shimano Deore @ R1695 SLX gets the vote - good value and brilliant XT like performance!
  11. CS is near me and it's still pretty much business as usual at this stage ... but as has been mentioned, the legal wheels turn slowly
  12. Excellent, thanks gents
  13. It's when the going gets really tough that it might be easier to continue on the shorter climb than having to face up to another 12km's on Sani? Or maybe it's just me trying to convince myself that facing a shorter climb 100 times is going to be easier than riding a longer climb 10 times
  14. A quick search didn't turn up anything so if this has been covered elsewhere please point me in the right direction. I have an aluminium seat post mounted to an aluminium frame and it's squeaking, need to know what "grease" the bike shops use on the posts. Is it just good old fashioned wheel bearing grease or is there a specific compound that I should be using?
  15. Ace Ventura goes mountain biking hunting springs to mind Kaark one Carpet, really hope you get your bike back.
  16. Make that 2 bananas You might be onto something though, maybe a shorter climb that obviously needs to be done plenty times instead of looking for really looong climbs that only need to be done like 10 times
  17. Really, really sad. Condolences to family and friends
  18. OP let us know what the outcome is with the dumb ass who stole it - hopefully there will be some justice!
  19. Yip, pretty hectic, saw a guy take a tumble on one of the single track sections and when he got back up he had turned into a hedge hog
  20. A mate of mine bought a rigid steel fork from Cajee's in Fourways - sounded as if it was stripped off one of the bikes they sold but he picked it for literally next to nothing and used it for a rigid SS build. Might be worthwhile phoning them
  21. Absolutely shocking and totally insane!
  22. Fortunately I had another bike to ride so I just left the damaged bike till I knew what was going to happen with the insurance - they paid out what I asked for based on quotes from 3 different bike stores. It was just a matter of not letting it go and reminding them every week that I'm still waiting, patience and perseverance paid off in the end.
  23. I had a similar situation with a third party claim through Auto & General, took almost 3 months to pay out.
