  1. Interesting that the closer to wake-up time the more the spikes, so if it is, as you say, related to turning around, you seem to get more restless closer to morning.
  2. Doing this year on my Xmarks as well. Did the classic on them and they were fine.
  3. Been using White Lightning Epic for year and a half and only recently started using Squirt. Seems Squirt just lasts that bit longer, rode 6hours at Magalies with it last weekend, and no issues!
  4. Why would you want to ride on the M5 when you can ride in it? (silence) ... ... ... ... (cough cough)
  5. Where'd u get, was at BRC in lynwood yesterday to buy some and they only had shrader
  6. Enjoy!
  7. My baby with the new wheels on...
  8. It wasnt pixonsite that did the last couple of Babbas races. I went and asked at the little caravan and they said no online photos.
  9. Add onto Tarmac, its basic, for you to loose weight - energy in < energy out. Thats it. Yes it can become more complicated as weight traning sessions burn differently to cardio sessions, and its difficult to track you base kCal burning during the day...BUT The only way I could do it, have a record of what you eat (with a good estimate of the energy value, kCal) and record your output during exercise (HR monitor works well) and see what your balance is on a weekly basis. If you want I can send you an example of my tracking system. Did that Jan 09 and lost 10kgs by beginning April. In Jan this year decided to loose the last 4 and did so by mid Feb (while eating enough to train hard). Anyways, point is - cant control what you dont measure.
  10. And a partner?
  11. Run xmarks front and back and for the mix of terrain across a race I love them, as mentioned, under hard braking or sandy bits the front can be a bit skittish, Ive almost skittished in my pants a couple of times because of it.
  12. +1 on mellow, do this with training as well, in different combonations, on the first run when the slope starts leveling reduce your speed and recover slightly, recond run keep going at the same pace, and last run hammer down and accelerate when the road starts to flatten. Repeat. Promise in 8 weeks you wont have this problem!
  13. No one disputes how great Cherise and Burry are, they are shaping up to be legends, Burry's practically there already! The fact that ppl are joking about mullets and groupies reflects the light-heartedness of public(online) forums, and if you want to find value from a site as this I suggest you adopt the same attitude! Relax, we randomly burst into Burry-gasms fairly regularly.
  14. Both are on here - http://www.spectrumsport.co.za/Vit-T-Go_MTB_Results_20100724.pdf
  15. It is when your gravity surpasses your ability
  16. I can think of many ways to be compensated myself, for what I dont know, had a blast, it was an awesome race thanks guys!! Sad to hear of all the falls.
  17. You okes are machines with those times of yours. Finished the half in 2:26, and enjoyed the hell out of it. Babbas on Sunday did go quite slow, did the first lap and snails pace (75% HR) and only gave a bit of stick on the second lap. Finished in 3:02.
  18. Two races the weekend, Diamond Rush and Babbas Lodge and luckily no falls, few scratches from branches, but ey-o-key!
  19. Spoke to a bunch of people afterward, and seems the general consesus among the slightly more experienced riders are that it was a fantastic route, apart from the shocking mine dump (I really tried to ride up there but just no chance) the route was tough but ridable. I must say that thinking of the general weekend rider/backmarker that route must have been aweful. I very happy my wife (have done two races), did not do this route, would have broken her neck. It probably is good that one or two of the half-marathon routes in the calendar pushes the okes a bit, but these must come with a stern warning beforehand (or did I miss it).
  20. Oh and a nother one...
  21. I thought this was going to be a thread about the dude that mooned the breakaway group just before the sprint (around 140km in), I laughed myself nearly of the IDT!!!
  22. Some more positives going into the weekend - 1. Its friday! 2. Tomorrow Im riding awesome race in Cullinan 3. This year Im lucky enough to be riding Magalies adventure and Sabie Experience, cant wait!!! 4. And as always the biggest reason...
  23. Dont underestimate the impact of fitness, sounds obvious, but technical climbs tend to become much easier the faster you climb (clear obsticles earier, stay upright easier). The biggest tip I got was from Lance (yes the guy everybody here just loves...cough cough) He trained in the rain, he loved the rain and when race day came, and it looked misreable and cold outside, everybody hated getting on their bikes, and he loved it. Think that way about hills, train hard, and love them, when you see the hill coming and everybody else is discouraged, you'll love the climb and be amazed how much that positive energy adds.
  24. Most of the literature I came across quoted the same 10days before you get the benefit of a training session. Hence the recovery before a event should be in the order of 10days as you need to reduce fatigue, but also any additional work you do wont benefit you for the event. (First post on new hub, looks cool, but have to get used to it)
  25. Not an expert as many other okes here but my experience - it can be due to worn chainrings (chainsuck occurs frequently and even when relatively clean), but in other cases chainsuck occurs infrequently due to mud and crap, and this can be sorted with a clean and lube, if it continues, new chainrings.
