  1. There is actually a massive range of other cassette options. https://singletrackworld.com/2019/04/12-huge-cassettes-for-1x-drivetrains-that-arent-shimano-or-sram/
  2. If I was to choose an alternative cassette, it would be Leonardi Factory General Lee 9-48. Looking forward to reviews on the KCNC cassette.
  3. I am a complete Fabric Scoop fan, have tried a number of very nice saddles. But the Fabric serves me best - as all know when it works well you do not change. Was lucky to have tested the Spez Power and Ride Farr, finding them comfortable. Then saw that Ryder has a similar wide shorty saddle. Has anybody had experience with the Ryder Force saddle? https://www.rydercycling.co.za/ryder-products/saddles/swift-2-0-saddle-324-detail Thought it could be an interesting option for riders on a budget.
  4. Touching on an old Point. I am not a Garmin user, and will not be a Garmin user. I want to use the equipment that suits my needs - So it is a Suunto. Therefore, if you use Garmin reading further about my frustration is pointless. Every now and again, Discovery breaks their own system and then they do not recognize speed data, or power data, time data, or HR data. And then it is the one excuse after the next until they manage to fix it a month or so later. While this is going on the call centre agents are relatively pro-active to try and sell me the benefits of Garmin and if I was using a Garmin device I will not be experiencing this issue. We know that Discovery works on the model of disruption and their whole business model is based upon behavioral manipulation. Do they use their position of power to not just disrupt our behavior, but are they not also being anti-competitive by 'forcing' their customers to all use Garmin product?
  5. I've experienced a frustrating issue with Vitality points and none of the "specialists" at Vitality seems to get the problem I've been trying to explain that Vitality does not register Indoor Cycling on Suunto to allocate points. Nearly half of the call centre agents explain to me that I have to understand that Discovery only accepts data from a select list of fitness equipment, and then tell me that Suunto is one of them (and I am using Suunto). Using a Suunto Spartan, all sport modes will earn you the 300 points or 450 points (elite fitness) for >80% HR over 30 minutes; except for Indoor Cycling. I am using a Power Meter, HR meter & Cadence Sensor - But Vitality sees the training file as "unconfirmed", because according to their system I edit the file after training, which I do not need to do. I have now mailed them .3dp files, .fit files and .tcx files, but they just do not get the problem. So now, I use my Ambit to record the training as Circuit Training, sync the Ambit to earn my Vitality points and then Sync the Spartan as Indoor Cycling to get the info into Movescount and Training Peaks. Any thoughts?
  6. Leatt Airflex, or Airflex pro. https://www.pinned.co.za/leatt-knee-guard-airflex-pro.html Their product seems to be very close to true size, so do measure properly.
  7. Learnt that lesson with about my first purchase ever on the Hub.
  8. Think you are fair in what you say, some products are really worth what you are advertising it for, it might just not be what anybody is willing to pay for it. I advertised my Pyga on the Hub in January, and I believed the price was extremely fair at the time, particularly the quality of the components on the bike as well as the general condition. I had to stick to my guns. The eventual seller low balled me a couple of times over e-mail. Eventually he came to look at the bike, when he saw it he actually apologized and paid me my asking price with a massive smile on his face. Different experience. I had a couple of brand new Renthal bars in the Classifieds; and the price was exactly what I paid for them as I brought them from the UK at R1.1k each. With not a single enquiry after 2 weeks, I pulled the advert and sold them out of hand - and got a slightly better price for each.
  9. My bad, just showed how cloudy, biased and uninformed my judgement really is. It is either a trick bike, or an e-bike. Think I am straying off topic again...
  10. I think that fork has been advertised since 1842? This one is going to be around for a while in my humble and biased opinion. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/306714-trek-superfly-100-elite-gary-fischer-collection/ GLWS.
  11. I have now twice tried to buy a small 26'er on the Hub for my son, both times suddenly the seller experienced seller remorse or something, and the price jumped because they felt they did not do their initial homework. On the selling side, I always offer my stuff at prices which I will be comfortable to pay for them, and I have been swamped by enquiries and then they just go quiet after asking and pushing 300 questions. I actually just took all the smalls I wanted to sell on the Classifieds and threw it in our recycling skip at work.
  12. Will your shock fit a 2.6 tyre..... ?
  13. My ignore with scripted response comes from Kris.
  14. Might be Skynet. They have a red logo.
  15. When will you have your fancy bottle cages with integrated CO2 and inflator available?
  16. 2.3 in front (even 2.4) and 2.25 at the rear. 2.1's are for dirt roadies.
  17. Looking at your response to Nofearnofun above, I’d like to apply it to my own experience. I might even have read the same article you are referring to, but they also speculated that there was a point of diminishing returns where your contact patch width will overcome the benefit of a longer footprint; because remember that a larger tyre does not just have a wider footprint, it also has a longer footprint, and there is a ratio where the benefit of the length is overcome by the friction of the width. My experience of an increase in speed since fitting the Rock Razor was not based purely on the sensation of speed (or lack of fatigue), but based upon riding times and average speeds. Since I’ve fitted the Rock Razor, I’ve smashed a couple of PB’s and even got a Top10 KOM on Strava. On routes/trails where braking is not a life or death situation I’d even consider a Rock Razor on the front also, but it will have to be the Soft Addix. It is way too easy to drag wheels with proper brakes. If there is a tyre which I’d rate as the undisputed tyre that you can lock and drag the easiest for the longest distance it is the Maxxis Ikon…. I’ve not been able to scare myself that much due to a lack of grip with any MTB tyre.
  18. I have been very happy in dealing with Cicli Mattio out of Italy also. They do not always ship very quickly, it might take them a day or so to get the item because they do not show if it is in stock or not. They use UPS or DHL and in all cases up to now, I’ve been lucky that all shipments came through without any duties or disbursement fees. On one of my orders they sent me the incorrect BOA, although I ordered the correct one, within 4 days I had the correct item and they said to keep the wrong one because it would be too expensive to return. https://en.ciclimattio.com/
  19. I've switched out on the rear from a 2.6 Racing Ralph to a 2.6 Rock Razor, and there is a very big difference in speed and cornering grip. Those big side knobs do grip like crazy, and the tyres are slightly more quiet than the RR's, so I am not checking if a truck is coming past me. I did notice though that sliding the rear of the bike around corners is not exactly that easy with the Rock Razor, in the case where it is leaned over it does grips substantially more than any Racing Ralph. On the front I am still on a Nobby Nic, which I have found more general purpose and faster than the Magic Mary. It is also a 2.6, I tried the 2.8 but it felt a bit too sketchy when pressures were low. I’d comfortably state the reason why the 2.8’s felt more sketchy; was because at low pressures the 30mm rim was not sufficiently supporting the tyre and therefore I started to experience tyre squirm as the tyre was rolling laterally. I managed to completely reduce the squirm by increasing pressure. But at the higher pressure I found that the tyre was not conforming that well to the trail and with certain impacts it was rebounding too fast from the surface and it was not absorbing the shock. The 2.6 carcass on the other hand is perfectly supported by the 30mm RF ARC’s and at low pressure I experienced now lateral rolling of the tyre. I do believe that by fitting 2.8’s on 35mm rims the issue I had of tyre roll would not be of any consequence. All of them are the "new" SpeedGrip Addix (blue stripe) compound with Snake Skin sidewalls. I am considering the orange stripe Soft Addix for the next rear Rock Razor.... If you do not mind the "old" compound, Evobikes recently had Rock Razors at really reasonable prices.
  20. Front Onza Ibex and rear Onza Svelte - 120tpi (29x2.25) &; Front Schwalbe Nobby Nic and rear Schwalbe Rock Razor - Speed Addix & Snake Skin (27.5x2.6)
  21. So I received a response also.... Thanks for your email. Sorry to read you have had this experience. At this time, SkyNet have our contract for express deliveries to South Africa, so we can only apologise fo the customs processing with them has been slower than you have come to expect with your previous orders. i will pass your feedback on to the relevant department. Thanks,
  22. Tempting, and would love to strap a Leatt DBX 3 to my dome, but that will have to wait for another day. The Turbine technology is particularly amazing. Also cannot complain about my Bell, it is super comfy and I know that when I happen to put my head into something, the Bell will do its job.
  23. No response yet on my complaint mail.
  24. I like this idea that you shared Lincoln, it makes places like Holland Bike Shop and Starbike very attractive as their prices are better than CRC, but shipping from them is crippling. Thanks for sharing.
