  1. Did my part to support capitalism and bought a couple of things on Black Friday I have been holding out on, or just bought it and will probably sell it on the Hub Classifieds in June when I still have not used it.... Locally I bought from CWC, Evobikes & Bikemob. CWC - Parcel is still lying in at Dawnwing in CPT, and been there since Tuesday Evobikes - After The Courier Guy sent my parcel to the wrong hub and I had to direct it to Gauteng myself it should be delivered today. Bikemob - I have no idea International I bought from Merlin Cycles and Cicli Mattio Merlin Cycles- Delivered yesterday Cicli Mattio - Delivered yesterday I thought that Cape Town was closer to Gauteng? Seems it has moved....
  2. Anybody yet fitted a set of the new X-Track En-Rage to their bikes? How do you rate them? https://www.lookcycle.com/en/pedale/x-track-en-rage/
  3. If maintenance is the only reason to choose SPD over CB, then choosing a balance bike or a scooter over a bike with a drivetrain makes total sense. Then running is much better than cycling, cause I've never had to grease my Brooks.
  4. As long as they are with Skynet, they will not see my business. There are plenty other options.
  5. The current Mitsubishi Outlander. Folding the seats flat, you can fit a large 29'er with the front and rear wheel still on. Muddy MTB shoes can fit in the storage compartment under the boot floor. It is also not too high, so using the roof rails with a roof mounted bike rack is still easy and does not require a ladder.
  6. Been using a Pro Koryak dropper for just more than a year now. It is a smoother dropper with quicker return than either the Lyne or Rapide, which I have both used extensively. With that said, you cannot complain about either the Lyne or the Rapide. https://www.pro-bikegear.com/global/en-gb/mtb/seatposts/PRO_SP_KORYAKASP
  7. Constructive advice highly appreciated. I've got a set of Shimano ZEE brakes which has been lying forgotten in a box of spares. I would like to revive them, can anybody refer me to a workshop in Gauteng which will do a good job of 'rebuilding' / servicing them?
  8. I've owned a couple of 29'ers and 8 months ago bought a 27.5 to grow the family. It was a brilliant decision. In fact so much so that I've put one of the 29'ers up for adoption.
  9. Fortunately I have had great experience with plenty guys, I was recently blown away by the professional manner in which Bike Market dealt with me. I can only say: DANG. I have however in 2018 had 3 experiences with buyers probably half my age..... and it was relatively soon clear that they did not place the same value in "as good as your words". One negotiated me down on a frame and then advertised that frame the same day on the Hub for a 100% markup from my original advert. The other 2 advertised 26'ers which I was looking for a project bikes for kids living in a place of safety; upon our face to face meetings their prices suddenly increased substantially because the one did not realise his bike was worth as much and the second made a mistake in his price when he advertised it. In saying that; these 3 are the only times I have yet had experiences which left me with a bitter taste in the mouth.
  10. From now I am only using The Courier Guy, or perhaps second option will be Fastway. Sent wheels to a Hubber in Paarl a week ago using Fastway, and paid R178.00 including insurance. Dropped the box at Fastway on Thursday afternoon and he got his box on Tuesday morning, if you consider there was a weekend in between then it was really good for an economy service and about 20% the price quoted by some other major shippers for such a large box.
  11. They took it relatively seriously. But I logged the case with their global site, not local. They did admit the parcel disappeared in CPT.
  12. Auditing, certifcation, verification and testing. Not the one in Groenkloof...... But a Geneva based one with 2,500 offices globally, and 95,000 employees.
  13. I work with a bunch of auditors daily. Integrity has never been an issue..... however.... time management, communication and organization gives me all my loads of grey hair.
  14. Today I'd like to sing praise to the unquestionable integrity of some of the Hubbers that trade in the Classifieds. I have dealt with some awesome people on the Hub and a few has turned into friendships. I was looking for a pair of narrow carbon bars for my daughter's MTB, and found near perfect set from a seller in the Cape Colony. Seller is known as kimitwattie here on the Hub. The discussions and the following deal was just a pleasure, and all was paid and shipped on 24 April. This was were things went wrong, as the shipper used Postnet and the parcel fell into an unknown hole. Never arrived in Joburg, I subsequently logged a complaint with Aramex and they started their investigation. I notified the seller and he took the matter very seriously. Eventually after a lot of back and forth between both myself and the seller with Aramex/Postnet, it was agreed that there is a claim with them. Then out of own accord kimitwattie (Jan) arranged with CWC and I could select a set of bars to replace the bars missing. It was slightly difficult as I had to consider the fact that the bars had to be made narrower. We received the bars on Monday, nearly 2 months after the process started. During all this time I regularly received feedback from the seller as to the info he got and what was going on. I can only say that I have developed tremendous respect for Jan and his commitment to resolve an issue which he did not create. RESPECT!!
  15. I've experienced a frustrating issue with Vitality points and none of the "specialists" at Vitality seems to get the problem I've been trying to explain that Vitality does not register Indoor Cycling on Suunto to allocate points. Nearly half of the call centre agents explain to me that I have to understand that Discovery only accepts data from a select list of fitness equipment, and then tell me that Suunto is one of them (and I am using Suunto). Using a Suunto Spartan, all sport modes will earn you the 300 points or 450 points (elite fitness) for >80% HR over 30 minutes; except for Indoor Cycling. I am using a Power Meter, HR meter & Cadence Sensor - But Vitality sees the training file as "unconfirmed", because according to their system I edit the file after training, which I do not need to do. I have now mailed them .3dp files, .fit files and .tcx files, but they just do not get the problem. So now, I use my Ambit to record the training as Circuit Training, sync the Ambit to earn my Vitality points and then Sync the Spartan as Indoor Cycling to get the info into Movescount and Training Peaks. Any thoughts?
  16. You will experience issues with shifting as that broken tooth sits right on the shift ramp to lift the chain onto the 50t. Luckily the cassette has other shift ramps on it so you'll experience noisy shifting only when it tries to shift at this specific point on the cassette. That broken/bent tooth shows that you were shifting under full power when you snapped your chain also?
  17. For sure, “meer in die dal as op die bike....”
  18. So the N+1 rule? Need a XC hardtail, XC Full Sus, AM bike, Trail bike, Enduro bike, Jumpbike & Downhill bike.
  19. The 2017 (recent) route had Witkoppen, Malibongwe, Cedar Rd, Steyn City & River Sands as the bite in the tail.... So I cannot see how much more R55 (Main Rd) and Mine Shaft will be worse? The bit of the R55 before we turn left into Summit (after WP8) might be a bit of a climb, but I do not believe it can be worse than going through Steyn City?
  20. Wants to ride, and will ride?
  21. You can effectively take any design you like and she can print you the crank sticker/skin which will go perfectly on that crank. I've supplied her with the CAD drawings for SRAM cranks.
  22. Why not lekker customer crank stickers.... Going to send you a PM, your solution is in Pretoria.
  23. Movescount on iPhone is a much better app than Garmin Disconnect.
