  1. I'll miss this one, it has too many wrongs that rights - high fees, number collection, weekend after R4S.
  2. Yes I have sliding doors made of wood and glass. Did anyone notice my chamois cream on the table? No cyclist can survive without it :-)
  3. Ok I get it now. However the average speed on strava remains unchanged which then differs from racetec.
  4. I started in AL, at 36km I got dropped, tried working with two other gentlemen for a while but we werent strong enough to catch the bunch. At 60km I was caught by a second AL group (twas dropped earlier). At 80km I got a flat front tyre.At 84km another flat tyre on the back wheel. My Garmin shows 2:40 (set to pause when I stop) but on strava it is 3:17 which is the same time as the time on Racetec. Does strava ignore pauses on workouts when getting data from Garmin?
  5. Rain can be funny at times...it might open up for the first 50 - 60km then bam it pours heavily and you have nowhere to hide . I have already paid, and so I am just bracing myself for any conditions.
  6. Very interesting and thought provocative questions... we will learn a lot from the response.
  7. So I cant use it to judge the possibility of a sub 3 94.7? The organisation of this event was superb! I liked the fact that there were cones to protect riders when warming up on the road from the robot to the start. I've noticed that as I get fitter and older I take longer to get warm.
  8. Started in BL, got dropped at around 60km with a sizable group, pulled it back to the main bunch thereafter I was flat. Hanged in there until 89km right turn I had to kiss the group goodbye. There was a nice tandem M/F who came passed and told me to climb on...tried but I couldnt...then TT'd to a just-just sub3. Now I am hoping for a sub3 947.
  9. Just got an sms and email to collect my number at cycle labs and venue. What should be the target time to finish this race if I am aiming to do a sub-3 for 94.7?
  10. Was in BL and got dropped around 15km, luckily I hanged on to a passing group that pulled me back into the main bunch. Again at 48km I was dropped then 3 guys came passed, I hang on their wheel as they were alternating to pull from the front to take us back to the group. I would have loved to help in the front also but I just did not have the legs. So what do u do when you are in such a situation, do you just let them go because you cant help pull or you suck the wheel until you are back in the group? I chose the latter and I know many hubbers don't approve. But at least I had the courtesy to thank them for their efforts. At times you don't suck the wheel by choice but its because you are finished. Well there was nobody to help at Hekpoort I just saw them riding away.
  11. My 6 years old daughter is ready to win the 6km MTB race. Is there a humper or trophy for the winner?.....trick up the sleeve.
  12. Eish not good news. Is there a possibility of cancelling the race due to these protests?
  13. Just received an SMS with my race number. I need to push hard to get a good seeding for 947.

  15. I experience the same problem every year, just when I am at my peak and ready to go further I go down with flu..its very frustrating.
  16. Another one will be on the 1st of April.
  17. We didn't get medals, we were told that they were finished by fast riders...howz that's :-(
  18. I find it very strange that the beta for CCNMC is 1.02 and 94.7 is 1.24 when almost everyone says CCNMC was the harder race.
  19. Maybe it would be nice if more could give us their CCMNC vs 97.4 times to prove this theory.
  20. This video is superb. I have not been cycling for too many years and I must admit I am learning a lot from bikehub. I have two not so clever questions: 1. What's the difference between Elite and VA, groups. Do they follow the normal seeding process to place riders on these groups or its on merit. 2. Why when for example VA catches up with Tandems the Commissar neutralises the race... what's wrong when these groups ride together?
  21. This was my 2nd 94.7. in 2015 I completed in 4h20. My target this year was 3h30 but was nervous because I did Mcsteel and Satellite in 3h45. Met a nicechap at the start who told me he did 3h20 last year and we agreed to work together for a 3h30. around Kyalami people where passing us on the left and right..I told him our average speed was a bit slow at 24km/h, he said I should not worry we aren't too far behind... after Kyalami towards Woodmead I just thought there is no ways we will make 3h30 at our pace I just decided to increase the pace and my friend did not respond. ..I kept on catching a lift of passing groups for few minutes on and off. ..I was ecstatic to finish in 3h18. Next year's target 3h10.
  22. If completion target is 4 hours, is it advisable to start fast and slow down later or start slow and pick the pace after halfway? I am worried that if fatigue kicks in halfway, the pace might slow down drastically even if u started slow.
  23. Are you going to get the prize money back from him and give it to the rightful person who came 3rd?
  24. So I decided to do late entry for this race,103km. Am I going to start with a last group or are they going to seed me?
