  1. Well done TCS you done yourselves proud once again,Crux/Michelle when do we see the photos
  2. Well done lads for staying in the CSA fold now to get the real work done(remember I am a total outsider from the GP province)but want to see cycling win at the end of the day. PPA and WP Cycling need to iron out their differences and set-up one body firstly, then tackle CSA from a united front with regards cycling in your province and the management in the Western Cape in general. I cannot believe that with persons running the Cycletour, Giro etc as well as Groot Lem you cannot get CSA to see the bigger picture of using your expertise to better cycling. Speaking to persons participating in the Giro and riding the Argus as well I found these events to be well oiled machines which says a lot for the administrators hence the need to build on what you have in place already, I am sure Popeye has some valuable input as well. Once again well done on the decision.
  3. Well done to Taylorchick and her coach deerves some credit as well.Jaco you proved your credentials here.Cherise with the support base you have you WILL be a force to be reckoned with home and abroad. To your parents, Crux, Jaco, Doug, MTN take a bow you have a gem that has proven her worth within a few months that she has what is needed to produce results SA should be proud of. I am sure MTN and Doug must be brimming from ear to ear been repayed in such a short time for giving you a contract. You rock girl( Cherry don't forget to give guidance to Cherise as well)
  4. Well done DavidB, looking forward to tomorrow's stage, we salute you for keeping us in the loop. Crux ons wag jou report van die manne
  5. Amoryns would love to but the finances are scarce hence Lauren is my lone rider at the moment
  6. Guys why is JP van Zyl academy doing so well with the other African nationals under his wing yet our very own cyclists are not there surely,JP has something to give to his country if only CSA can work with him. The country has so much untapped talent which we lose to the pro teams. Imagine if Bradley Potgieter, Johanthan Kinnear, Arran Brown, Pieter Botha, Jaco Venter, to name a few were given the opportunity to work together for a few months with the goal of representing the country what could come of it? Let us hope after April congress the people leading us then will work towards the sport and not their self interest.
  7. Morning all When are we going to think positively about our ladies and at least give them some support. Past weekend we saw them mixing it with the vets and doing quite well yet some found it negative. Guys for our ladies to improve we need to help them as well by supporting and encouraging them. MTN has made a good start let us hope the other teams will become fully professional as well and give the younger ladies the chance to prove themselves. The older ladies racing has proven themselves over the years and it is for the younger generation to come on board and learn from them, there is the other Steyn sister who rides well and M Corbett who is proving her way through the ranks( Now if only CSA had a proper academy for these lasses)who knows. This is not only a cycling issue but in SA generally look at athletics Sonya Laxton at age +-58 still kicking butt, Grace de Oliviera, Fancis van Blerk, Sarah Maglangu etc. To all the ladies in Kiwi land give it your best. Those at home be proud you are out there doing what you love and enjoying it. People such as Sernoche1 the challenge is simple prove yourself and show us you are worthy of the company these ladies are in or better yet come and offer your services in making them the stars you believe in.
  8. Licensing issue has taken a turn for the worse in respect of the cyclists I am afraid to announce. It appears that CSA/provinces has not clearly thought the process through and communicated with the one another in this regard hence we suffer once again and most cyclosport license holders paid CSA eitherR75-00 or R95-00 for nothing at all."What to do" I am dumbstruck by this developments. This is CGC's stance on the matter, now I ask how was my applications processed and forwarded to CSA if some of my members never met this criteria, Who do I claim the monies back from? or has this become a worthless donation to cycling coffers. QUOTE THE PRESIDENT OF CGC- Hi all, I have followed the discussion on the matter and would like to make my point. Firstly to set the record straight, CGC last year implemented licensing in our province based on qualification and that it would be controlled by the province, full racing licenses(Elite) would only be issued based on the national index and the Supersport ladder was selected as the qualifying standard. For the record the following are the indexes used by CGC; Elite/U23 7 Vets 30-34 9 Vets 35-39 13 Vets 40-44 16 Vets 45-49 19 Vets 50-54 21 Vets 55-59 23 Vets 60+ 25 All applications were evaluated on that basis and licenses awarded accordingly. If an applicant was not awarded an Elite license they would then qualify for a Cyclosport license. What was imperative was that licensing was to be controlled by the provinces and that CSA was not to issue any licenses and to direct any applications made to CSA back to the relevant province. The new licensing system procedure has turned this on it?s head. Regards Giovanni Mottalini
  9. I live in GP hence my protector keeps a eye on anything out in the open( Things tend to disappear within seconds)
  10. I never knew I had a twin out there.
  11. Start the "name and shame" page and post pics as well,I am sure they are all camera friendly cyclists.
  12. I rode VD for the second time in my three years of cycling and must say it was a pleasure not having to worry about the kamakazi's in the open bunches. One accident witnessed at about 17km in the race, however the guys behind had a field day with all the reports coming in with accidents happening on the route. I observed the following on that long road yesterday, the licensed riders in Gauteng seem more respectful towards others in the bunch and can pick the novice rider immediately like they done with me Yet NO bashing only advice issued which was well received. Regarding the WHITE LINE I must say the VB,VC,VD and ladies have no chance of racing if this rule is upheld in Gauteng at all as the bunches are very competitive and will not give an inch to the next rider hence the bunch scatters across the road and the comms and THINK BIKERS controlled the situation hence no accidents occuring with oncoming vehicles. Image yesterdays scene VB getting caught by VC and slowed down for couple of kays which allowed the ladies to catch the VC,s as well now you have three huge groups trying to race and pass one another for several km,s with the bikers and comms cars in between and NO accidents occurred, great job done by officials on the road. However if the white line rule was brought into play at least 700 riders would have been disqualified at that point. THUS officials must think on their feet and make a constructive decision based on safety for all.Last week we had the Vets stopped for crossong the white line At emperors and all accepted it because it was a danger no problem there. I believe the riders must respect the decision taked by the race comm and get on with the race as it is your life you are playing with when the situation is dangerous. Thanks again to the race comms and THINK BIKE for the work yesterday at R4S.
  13. Groot Lem for Director of Road Comms please say yes
  14. who have you nominated?
  15. Annual number will not work in cycling. Running you get annual number BUT still have to pre enter the bigger races or pay penalty morning of the race and get issued with ANOTHER number to pin on chest or running pants which has to be handed in at end of race for two reasons. 1 to prove you are legal in race and two to obtain race results and handout at end of tunnel. Have you been to race registration at Two Oceans or Comrades similar to 94.7 and Argus Expo. What makes running seem easier is that several running shoe stores take entries on behalf of the organizers and hand your race number to you at the till point when you enter and pay, others you do same as Cycle lab and collect on given days.
  16. Cois ask the Afcon guys in Ghana they done agood job of the old flag there.
  17. Sy gaan gat skop onde baie mans mense
  18. I shall request same, It would be interesting to see the splits among the disciplines Track, road, MTB etc., will wait patiently for my copy.
  19. Ewep I suggest we have a copy of the financials for the past congress passed onto the provinces and clubs for scrutiny as well, maybe then we will be informed as to where all the monies go and after the next congress we can have a copy of the proposed new budget to follow the next spend for 2007/2008 season. "Spinnekop waar kan n mens a copy kry van die finansies" I have been requesting same from CGC for past two and half years, no luck. Mnr COO kan jy hiermee help
  20. Pantani you have the correct license, people only hear what they want when it suits them. The only negative part about the licenseing issue is the "ONLINE ISSUE" it should never have been implemented in tandem with the roll-out to the masses.
  21. I believe a person such as Carinus is what CSA needs and must extend his contract beyond the end of the month. In the few months as COO of CSA he is bringing about change for the cyclist (yes you and I) the processes he has to deal with is not ideal hence he has to implement new and fresh one's into the office and he has to deal with board members that want to get rid of him. Other than Carinus who else from the office has visited the provinces and local races to see first hand what is happening. People talk about the license fee CSA is generating and the use thereof, what about the finances required to run a proper office structure, get the license issue dealt with organize proper training camps for ALL NATIONAL SQUADS, train and access more managers officials etc, where does this money come from seeing that CSA hs no official sponsor on board to pay for these? I stand under correction but I believe the PPA actually pays or donates most of the money for our COO salary because CSA has not got all the cash we assume they have. Instead of moaning I suggest we put pressure on the CSA board to appoint CL into a permanent position with full authority to implement change for all within CSA.
  22. Have you noticed this happens with all the races that is organized by a promotions company. at the road races it is totally different and some of these promo companies work there as well. EG: Pick n Pay marathon in Feb you will get your T shirt if pre entered yet as fast one and (4.7 you must pay for it.( All run by HSP). I wonder what happens to all the monies coming in from the sub sponsors and how much actually goes to the hosting club versus what HSP takes.
  23. Mr Mac the Northern farm youngsters are really in need as their numbers are growing, I suggest youn hand it to them. Thanks Sp.
