  1. Politics is strange in our good old SA:Years ago I was not allowed on a bus because only whites were allowed, later on I could board and stand at the back if there was place later on buses were sent into the townships for us yet we yearned to have the quality our white brothers had in their buses( Old JMT buses v/s Putco), today we have Metro bus in our townships but I prefer the old Putco, I guess I have been groomed to live in second class society and marvel at my black/white brothers venting their frustrations to such levels where I wonder if democracy is really what I fought for in my younger days. The rich get richer the poor get poorer and me I am happy with the leftovers from last night as it is a meal at least for the day. Life is about living and caring not to live with HATRED all the time.
  2. Is it not a shame that we once again put the blame onto CSA when after last year's debarcle about CSA officials we had the opportunity of righting the situation and NOBODY not even our provincial chairperson's justified the vote of "no confidence" in CSA at the JHB meeting when they were given the opportunity to do so. Remember CSA is there to represent your sport and you, this they do on a voluntary basis as well. Stop pointing fingers and do a better job yourself if you are man enough. We have some people within CSA that are trying their utmost to change systems and mindsets yet they do not get the right support from us the cyclists. I hope and pray our COO has his contract extended( expires May) so that he can continue doing what is best for the cyclist.Give Breeze and Co the support they need to bring change from within and make yourselves available on your provincial bodies so that your voice can be heard and actioned as well. Be robust in your opinions but respect opinions of others as well it is senseless shooting down others opinions because they differ from you.
  3. It will be a huge step forward if the two timing companies agree to work on the same rules as we the cyclist will benefit and they will gain our respect once again. I have confidence our COO bringing will achieve some success on this point, as it will benefit all cyclist fom Limpopo down to the Cape. Bigboy why not take up your proposals with the two companies as it appears to have sound basis."C'mon do something for youe fellow cyclist"
  4. Lilo "early bird catches the worm"
  5. Scotty I believe we need more people to go to the office and see for themselves
  6. You looking at a huge number of cyclists wanting to license and all is impatient at this time of the year. There is certain checks and balances that needs to be followed before licenses can be issued. Don't forget the prima donnas are also wanting things done their way and expect the administrators to drop whatever they busy with to help these @#$$%^^. You will be horrified to see the treatment measured out to Gail and Jill at the CGC offices from these rude imbeciles, I witnessed this personally before the office closed for December
  7. Guys my opinion is work diectly through your club and you will have your license within +- 15days. Let the online system be bedded down properly and all the issues at hand will be dealt with to ensure a smooth system is in place. The intention of the online system is good however the workings and confirmations from administrators will eventually dictate the speed at which the system will operate.( Pity the clubs who has a lazy/slow secretary to confirm your memberships). Mnr COO keep up the good work, don't forget your neg. towards end Feb.
  10. Morning Mullet Quite simple if you do not want to be part of the structures then do the honourable thing and ride in the open unseeded group with the social riders, problem solved. The license fee handed over to CSA has to cater for the sport in it's totality from paying staff, rent phone bills, stationary etc ( Where do you think CSA gets this funds from?) Clubs are formed with different ideas and goals in mind from the simple club where the riders just enjoy cycling together on a formal basis to the Pro clubs who is intend on winning anything and everything on offer, then you get the type of club everyone wants to join but cannot because they only invite whom they want. CGC for example receives R75-00 per person affiliation fee per year( don't know numbers registered with them)They employ a full time lady in the office who takes crap from all of us and still gets the job done at the end of the day,(Salary paid from your affiliation fee) and they manage to have prize giving functions and awards,On the road they organize the interclubs at a reasonable entry fee. The BMX and Track commissions are one of the most updated ones in the country with your small share of affiliation paid. There is many more examples of what happens with the little they receive from the cyclists. Bear in mind I am also fighting with the officialdom on certain issues pertaining to how the sport is run, however one needs to provide solutions for the problems we create as well as most of the officials do this on a voluntary basis week in and week out.
  11. I am amused at the attitude some cyclists has with regards licensing. Simple not happy with process then don't race. Not happy with the rules and regulations of a race organizer don't do the race. Why must you benefit all the time, yet you not willing to help your fellow cyclists improve their races for your sake. CSA/PPA/PROVINCES cannot exist without a membership base hence you the cyclist make up that base. We have a unique situation in SA sport where almost all the mass sport bodies enjoy full participation from individuals and all the moaners are the one's back week in and week out, why not be positive for once and support the structures been put into place to ensure we all benefit somewhere down the line and the sport grows. Look at athletics, all the provinces has a license system in place and ASA administers this at a small cost to the individual built into the set fee per year. Some time ago they went through this same process and today they have clubs which are well established and others falling by the wayside yet ASA manages to attract huge sponsorship from the corporate world because they have their house in order( Runners know what I mean) when I say their house is in order yet they secure huge deals for the athletes. Nedbank and ER24 sponsorship deals are in the millions hence a first place finish can earn you R100 000-00 down to tenth place at R10 000-00. Check the 21km race in Tswane early Feb for their prize list.( Nedbank series). Hence if individuals work through their clubs, provinces and CSA I am sure the same can be achieved in cycling as you need a strong willing committee to steer the ship through tough times and I am sure with Mnr COO doing his thing at CSA this can be achieved if given the chance by us cyclists.
  12. Those guys/dolls not wanting to join clubs but wanting the facility to ride licensed simply do the following at the cost of someone doing a bit of paper work. EG: 20 friends club together and fill in forms and take to CGC office pay over your CGC fee of R75-00 for affiliation and R75-00 for Cyclosport license (R150-00 per person) for the year plus cost of two photos all done and dusted. Download application form and constitution from website and change name to you new found club name and submit.Once license arrives fotget about one another until year end and repeat.
  13. Pantani like I said by what suits your body profile.Have you heard about the "yellow pages orthotics" works wonders compared to some other prices out in the market. Ron Holder this man is remarkable with sports injuries, pity you takes ages to get an appointment with him.
  14. Pantani go to the running gurus either Runner group stores or Jakes at Sweat shop in Dunkeld. The name brand is not what you must worry about but the fit and profile your foot requires. Take it from me I have done several thousand kays and still am doing them from 10k's to 100 milers and the best of all road races the COMRADES. At the Engen to Engen rides speak to Ernie Welch(Microsoft) or Arnie Geerts from Supercycling they know about running shoes as well. Call me for more info
  15. Barend have you seen some guys reverse on the hill with their bikes.Make sure no cars around when you attempt it.
  16. Scotty careful with recreational as you will not be seeded.
  17. Guys CGC fees will not be increased for 2008. Fees remain R75-00 per person or lower depending your household or development status.Gail will confirm this 011 707-2734 Clubs charging more are ripping you off.
  18. Yes you can join CGC directly.
  19. The following needs to be asked of officialdom and race organizers. Is a race debrief held and action plans tackled emanating from this meeting, I believe it is not been done simply by having the same issues raised over and over again. Surley the oganizers are RESPONIBLE for the before and after issues of the event and the Chief Commissiar during the event hence when the debrief is done and they merge their reports they will highlight these matters and tackle them head on to ensure the next event is done with improvements added thus enhancing the integrity of the organizers sponsors officials and last but not least the cyclists. Having said this there must be clear and concise rules applicable to all(Elite and social racers).Race organizers accountable for the event and cyclists accept the terms and conditions for entry no if's and but's as is happening now. Let us start working in harmony and find solutions to the problems not add more misery to it.
  20. Stange, Faried Steward and Justin were busy with me for over an hour on Sat at the said time and not once do I recall anyone asking for help with wheels or the like. Charlie and Dylan were hell busy selling mountain bikes and the like to some customers. The story will always remain the same from certain customers when it comes to Cajees Westdene Cyclelab and Solomons yet when Linden needs items they don't have in stock who do they call Faried or Fatima. I know as I am in either shop most days . At Westdene most customers only want to be served or helped by Steward or Faried which is their preference hence the other youngsters wait for the customer to ask for help( This makes YOU the customer not feel like you been harrassed by over eager saleman) The Customer might be King BUT is not always right.Simple rule not happy go where you feel happy and get everything done at your wim.
  21. And he comes from RAC.Widget have you ever run the T/T at RAC with Raynard Bruce Mark Steve Angus etc?
  22. Racing Hart it is simple first part is delayed until 12H00 then goes out live to all including interviews etc
  23. Guys it is "delayed live transmission " due to last years stats showing more audiences watched the highlights than the live transmisiion in the morning. At least now you have time to get home and watch the action including the prize giving in the afternoon. Pity the Elite men and women must hang around until 12H00 for Prize giving then until 15H00 for TV interviews.
  24. Hi Michelle welcome back, where is your better half?
