Chrispy my plea to these youngsters managers/coaches is please keep them going in this direction even when the times become tough and when they make the conversion from juniors to the seniors as this is where they are lost in that first season because they cannot produce results instantly and we become impatient with them. Now the scenario: If Csa had it own academy these youngsters could be drawn in and worked with in all aspects from nutrition through to physical testing and tweaking correctly to build them into future champs competing on a level playing field.

Good day all Butafly people such as yourself must first read a post properly before commenting I made it clear I am against quota selection systems. Yes we have volunteers heading the current Development section. Why has CSA not taken the proper route of making this a full time job as yet? It is simple and easy to tell the Lotto board what you are doing for transformation and development yet you have no prove whatsoever as to an end result. Use the money correctly and we all will gain in the sport and look forward to having another notch filled without any suspicion raised( Case in point Sifiso Nhlapo BMX champion). As a matter of interest "Andrew McClean can take a young rider and a road wise rider(persons of colour) under his wing for two months and have them achieve remarkable results at a tour thereafter what have they achieved back at their clubs. What is the club actually doing to promote this youngsters and develop them properly.Does this not tell us something.Has CSA taken note of this and thought of asking Andrew how he has done it? ( THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION NOTHING TO DO WITH ANDREW, HE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW ME.

Well well well I see some people are hot under the collar today. The Team should be representative of the country period, it should not be about colour or politics otherwise you end up having the same old Springboks and Proteas scenario. I as a person of colour believe development should be done on the ground and filtered through to the senior levels as the riders progress not at national level where we go to represent the country. Been new in the sport I have noticed the following: No provincial or national academy exists which is MANAGED AND RUN by CSA and all the managers thereof accountable to CSA instead all the academies are run by individuals and they decide who to invite into these hence this is where the problems arise. If the development and transformation policies are not thought through properly and implemented objectively we can forget about having persons of colour competing at national level or representing the country without the agrieved white folk having something to talk about rightfully so.Examples in above posts. The BMX guys in Gauteng have a system in place which is working well why not build on this model for the other disciplines as well. At the SA National track champs two weeks ago I noticed not one person of colour representing Gauteng and this past week-end at the CGC champs there was a total of three riders of colour on Sat and Sun (One Cyclelab, One MTN and New Horizons).Who are we going to blame this on yet the CSA transformation and Development document has all the fancy words and instructions in it for year end 2007, all talk no bark, no wonder the "esteemed" sports spokesperson "BK" for the Minister of sport can make statements they way he currently is.
  5. Big Mamma I AM A PERSON OF COLOUR.You and your kind will always remain what you are "As*&^%ole" Not all persons of colour are deemed to be from the school of "I WANT" Some of us try and do our best with what we have and achieve results which will put you to shame anyday. My youngsters do their best and try to even the playing fields on their bikes without begging for handouts but kindly receive what is given from their fellow cyclists and the like. To prove my point look at the results for "ISAAC MUDAU" here is a development rider going out there week in and week out challenging the best in the country on his BIKE and achieving results in his second year of riding in formal races. Last year in the A bunch he won some races in Gauteng and this year he has yet to finish outside the top 15 in the ELITE bunch so go fly your kite in the Dark you fool. To all those working for development keep it up you will always be appreciated by a few of us who see the real work been done by yourselves. Big Mamma a pity you were not at the SA Track champs to see these development riders repay their mentors and helpers with the manner in which they rode with PRIDE.
  6. Crux do not fear we still have the young gun(taylorchick) to challenge the princess at SA champs.

  9. frosty thanks again,Your intentions was noted
  10. The cyclists all ended up in hospital with fractures and the like (Kruger from Gary Beneke cycles) bore the brunt of the accident and is in a induced coma due to the trauma to his face, several fractures. Thanks must go to the Germiston Wheelers guys that stopped to help for a while and to Gary who also stopped to help, Michael appreciated it.Once Fred or the other cyclist is able to tell us what happened I will post it. Not forgetting the motorist who phoned for emergency services Thank you. On a sad note I am appealing to our fellow cyclists please treat ALL CYCLISTS the same DO NOT BRING COLOUR INTO IT as the third person knocked at the scene on SAT happened to be white as well.
  11. Morning Colin I have always admired the manner in which you guys have done your work as I come along way with you guys on the running scene, however Sunday was not a good way to start, check the results of the 92km event and you will see why SOME of the top finishers were not A batch starters but C and D once checking against their other times you soon realise the started in the A batch and it is still questionable that the times they rode can be correct Narra you are correct when you mention the Blue IQ mess, hopefully the Soweto organizers have learnt from Sunday's event and rectify the situation if they want to continue next year.
  12. Yes, please this guy has been fantastic at the 94.7 as well without the shell though.
  13. SHAMEFUL SHAMEFUL SHAMEFUL To all the Sowetans that used the roads were we raced yesterday I must say SHAME on you, you let a perfect opportunity slip by because of your silly mentality by wanting to show us cyclists that it is YOUR roads as put by the GOON in his taxi. I rode the 92km race and must say the start at 6H10 was okay as the road users must have been asleep still however on the second lap one soon realised trouble was looming as some marshalls started getting bored and lost interest in the jobs, the JMPD was also not up to the task as some did not seem to know what their functionality was on the route, How do you park your cop car in the middle of the road when you have cyclists bearing down on you at 45kmph??????the mind boggles. I rode the race with the intention of getting to see more of the area and compare it with the Soweto marathon in terms of people participation and awareness as to what is taking place, sadly to say as a minority sport the Sowetans will have to up their game in convincing some of the cyclists to come back next year. Race over now I prepare to watch our Elite riders show us their skills and racing abilities as this is something one seldom gets to see if you partake in the race yourself. What a turn out amongst the Elite group Microsoft, SCS, Harmony, Excel,Barloworld etc. First anouncement race delay accident up the road second report some clowns throwing stones onto the race route, not sounding good at all. Race is off first lap totally neutral so let the action begin second lap some riders start bailing complaining about the road not been safe to much vehicular movement on the race section then the third lap race gets called off because of the SAFETY FACTOR. Now to ask the following questions : Was the ROAD CLOSURE JUST A HOAX to get the cyclists to the event or was the JMPD management the same as we all expect of them lately( We take your money, show up and do nothing constructive except to feed our faces in the VIP area. Safety & Security: "Road closure ensures that the cyclists will only be in the policed and managed route and not randomly cycling in problem areas" This is from the organizers website. The Fenciing people, why was the barriers still laying on the side of the intersections when the 92km race started and still there at 13H00 when we eventually decided to leave, road closure means you put fencing up and use it to prevent cars from interferring with cyclists. Championchip this is a first that I witness a race start without you there, what happened guys, please ensure this is the last as well. Organizers you guys tried to provide something worthwhile in an area where it has not been done before hopefully this learning curve will better equip you for the future if you continue this venture. What our people must realise is LET US stop complaining about no TRANSFORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT taking place in the townships from the minority sports and then when it is brought in we stuff it up, where is our pride ??? To those who were injured yesterday I wish you a speedy recovery and THANK you for helping yesterday.

All the orange okes will be there again(27),what a week-end coming up then the big C on the 17/6/07.
  15. Crux to make it more authentic tell Patrice you are BEEE compliant and take me along as your bike wash boy.
  16. Well done to the Capies, looking forward to see more of you guys up here in the North it will not only help your guys but the whole elite peleton will benefit from it. Oh Oh don't forget you still have a small issue to deal with in a weeks time (That is some guys on niceeeeeee bikes and van coming to play in your backyard TCS ) See you at Soweto CSC.
  17. Up the TCS boys, you go kick butt and remember we up North will be rooting for you all the way,Spidey get Jaco to flatten the hills first then you cruise past Ti with beer in hand and offer him a tow for the rest of the way. I believe TCS will show the bookworms a thing or two come Sunday afternoon. See you at the finish.
  18. Why not Arran, I had my whole club done by him and still waiting for a comeback from any of the members, Is it what you heard or have YOU personally been done in by Arran?
  19. This is great, the president of CSA participating on the hub as well,we look forward to hearing more from you,as you well know by now this is the cycling bible for us hubbers from truths to myths to downright lies etc. A question to CSA, The manner of appointing the COO was this done with the full knowledge of the Trustees and blessing of Congress. The question of Transformation and Development within CSA when will this be addressed adequately and implemented with proper time frames simply stating "end of 2007" is not conclusive enough. When will CSA's vision be made public for us cyclists on the ground to scutinize and compare to our club objectives to ensure we working inline with our national body.
  20. It appears that this local hero to some is a downright ass***e, where is the dudes that defended his actions earlier this week.I wonder why people still want to ride with him, imagine the bakkie dude taking a potshot at him next week and hitting someone else in the bunch are we going to bay for the blood of the motorist again????
  21. Cervelo is it not strange that it has taken five years for the Waterfkloof 4 story to finally reach a verdict and we have to hear what wonderful kids these murderers are,why bring this topic to the forum? Are you tring to justify your presence and hatred towards us non whites? Are you aware of the skin colour of the driver that killed my friends in the accident you refer to ?
  22. Hi Where was this event held? How does one get more info about the series
  23. The race must stay as is no need to change anything and the tannies with the lekker food is awesome. CSA and Limpopo sort out the crap now, hopefully CL will deal with this, he is our man on the inside at CSA. You go Limpopo province. Guys let us get the entries close to 2000 this year, the more the merrier.
  24. Spinnekop and Michelle you are missing the point. On Ondekkers there is several groups that use this road but one specific group believe they are above the law and can do as they please. When they stop( if they do decide to do so) it is ALL OVER THE LANES BETWEEN THE CARS ETC hence at pulloff they create confusion with the motorists as they are all over the place and this is the CRUX of the matter not the size of the group. I find it amazing that we should be told to stick up for our kind EVEN though they are breaking the rules .What example is this the the new/younger riders coming into the sport???????????
  25. In the Citizen two stories this morning one about ex cyclist nailing us and the other a picture of 11 year old killed by taxi driver with an invalid licence 13 year old friend injured out in Katlehong.'Taxi driver states he seen the kids to late to swerve". Widget regarding the cyclists on Ondekkers in that big group at around 08H00 on a Saturday does not surprise me as they do it all the time when using this road, I have witnessed this several times as well, funny part is you cannot tell them anything as they know better as one responded when told to stop their tricks, same group thinks they OWN the new road down at Sterkfontein after crossing the gravel patch to Beyers Naude, amazing thing is their marshalls have bibs on yet they allowed to ride across the whole of the road moving to the left only when the motorbikes or occassional car passes. Will try and get a pic the next time I see them. "Moderators will this be allowed to be posted?"
