Find a good LBS (local bike shop) - visit as many as you can and choose which one you would like to deal with. Hubbers will also recommend.

I also miss rolling over a topic title and being able to see some of the narrative of the first post. For me this is a valuable time-saver.

No problem with mistakes here and there, especially where the author's first language is not English. But I am irked by posts that are clearly written by someone who just could not care less... or, heaven forbid, a post written in SMS-speak...

I'm a Linden Cycle fan, I was well advised by Jonene when I started out, but what I have found is that you have to be a little 'pushy' to get someone's attention, especially when it is crowded.

Go for pre-owned at this stage. Find a good cycle shop and discuss with them, in fact do the rounds of a few cycle shops and discuss. I can strongly recommend Linden Cycles for a start, Jonene has helped many beginners on their way with sound advice. Don't forget that you must allocate part of your budget for cycling gear, with a properly fitting helmet as your first priority Best wishes
