  1. Get the fluffy bits, it will protect your frame!!
  2. Here is a pic of Big George and his wife at the Team presentation in London.
  3. I'm going to be at the prologue too. Watching wimbledon the week before as well!! I managed to get my ticket for just over R6k - get 10% off on Virgin atlantic if you use their credit card to pay. I'll be there with my SA flag over my shoulders.
  4. I think in the latest Pro cycling (well the latest we can get here in SA) there is a feture on David Millar and his Scott Plasma TT. Interestingly he likes his TT and Road bike to have the exact same geometry. One thing he does "complain" about is that he has to use bars with clip on tt bars, not one piece.
  5. Does that mean until Jan is proven guilty, he is the "winner" of the TdF 1996?? Just imagine if Lance is found guilty, Jan could be the most successful Tour rider of all time!!
  6. WHy doesn't everybody stop posting reply's and just start reading from pg 1 again, because it is all going around in circles????
  7. Don't know if you guys have seen that the live coverage on cyclingnews.com is available in wap format so you can keep up to date on the races with your phone. It uses very little bandwidth so costs next to nothing. the link is http://live.cyclingnews.com/wap/index.wml
  8. The only way to know is to try them. I have a pair of Santinis and they are unwearable, but of course others love them so...... Problem with Assos is if you try them and they don't fit your A$$, your wallet is going to feel very empty.
  9. yip, first thing I did on my new wheelset!!
  10. Back wheel, plastic thingy's???
  11. Is that a red light too??
  12. "Experienced MTB riders can enter the popular 40km long route that includes technical single-track sections. The medium route follows sections of the long route. Except for the difference in distance, the 30km requires the same fitness and skills to handle the ascents, descents and single-track. Please note that both 40km and 30km routes include technical, steep descents and sharp turns. " Did I miss a turn somewhere??
  13. I have always given this event a skip in the past because it is too flat, but after reading the description on the PPA website it seemed they livened it up a bit, saying the 40k is only for experienced MTB riders???? From that description , I thought we were going to do a bit of the real Jonkershoek. I rode it with my girlfriend and we started the 30km but ended up doing the 40km single track to liven the ride up a bit. Oh well I ended up winning a braai "thing" in the lucky draw. I must have been a funny sight trying to ride through Stb with it tucked under my arm.
  14. How many of you swopped you Oakley frames at the expo for free??. They popped my lenses out put them into a new frame and even gave me a new bag (One of those HUGE M frame bags!!) . How many other manufacturers do that?? Oakly M frame fit is unbeatable too, and are the only pair of glasses I have had that don't fog up while Mtbing.
  15. Are the full results available anywhere??
  16. At one of the last international track meetings at the bellville velodrome, I remember there was a guy doing a motorpaced ride. He also had his fork "reversed". Any Trackies know the reason for this??

    Dry needling

Here is a pic of me with 18 needles in me!! I cropped the ones in my A$$ out for your sake!!
  18. Well said Gumpole. WHen you think of it who rode into who? Both parties were instructed by marshalls to turn, so just because Daniel was going faster than the lady doesn't make it his fault (or hers). Did you see where on the road he hit her. He tried extremely hard to miss the short route riders by veering offline. IMO it was an unfortunate accident that race organisers must try best to avoid in the future.Le Tour2007-02-21 03:15:04
  19. Couldn't see from the footage to see whether D.S. checked on the girl, I just hope that the MTN/Microsoft car did once they changed D.S.'s wheel. P.S. After meeting Malcolm on a training ride this December he is, in my opinion on of the most down to earth pro riders in the country. my 2cLe Tour2007-02-21 01:53:50
  20. Dan Spence rode into the girl. Malcolm was complaining to the TV motorbike while waiting for D.S. to catch up.
  21. Go to: http://www.biketechreview.com/archive/pm_review.htm A review between SRM, PT and Polar If you can get through the review (It reminds me horribly of my Engineering lectures) then a you don't need a power meter and should be able to calculate it in your head!!
  22. I am sure you have made sure the belt it is tight enough?? Another idea is to use the same conductive gel the doctors use for a ultrasound. (Don't know where to get it as I got it from my dad who is a doctor) 3rd option try turn the strap around and use it on your back (It works, I promise) Non chest strap monitors??? don't know of any sorry.
  23. Talking about insurance, what should one expect to pay per month to insure a say R20k bike. Would it be covered in a race situation??
  24. Hubba-hubba do you ride a SA made bike?? Sometimes you have to go overseas for quality?? (I still support the local mags, buying them regularly, just get disapointed when there isn't much to read.) As for the cheap bit, yes I would have to agree on that point but then again do you enjoy the consumer society we live in today where we buy something use it once and then chuck it.
  25. A bike is still usefull once you have ridden it. I am just saving the trees!!!
