NotSoBigBen Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Yeah, the rule that states: Tell the pretentious mtb police to sod off. Ride what you like, and what works for you. My favorite rule. alrighty then Bob!
manbearpig Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 ...for hooking on branches through forest single track.
Andrew_ew Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 ...for hooking on branches through forest single track. thats precisely why they were slowing me down on single track through the forest....
RiderX Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 ...for hooking on branches through forest single track. That's very true. I have bar ends and just cant seem to get rid of them, they help me so much when climbing. Still got them even after wiping out and loosing a fair amount of skin when one of them got stuck in the bushes while going quite fast
kosmonooit Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 What def. out is those great protruding bull horn types! I got shorties on flat bars on 2x mtb's (racer and pavement warrior), find them useful. Same as hoodz on the roadie imho. Tried them on risers, geometry just wasn't right.
Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 fricken hell, even a discussion on this? I dont give a **** if you think bar ends is cool or uncool. What qualification do you need to decide if something is cool or uncool? Its like me telling you that white mtb shoes is uncool?
Meezo Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 ...for hooking on branches through forest single track. happened to me, EINA!!!!

White mtb shoes are seriously uncool, unless you make the podium(see burry and caveman) then they become uber cool. Very confusing I know
Meezo Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 nice responses, and some angry ones too. Did my 1st ride without them this morning, and i didnt miss them.... Not yet
Grebel Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 ...for hooking on branches through forest single track. +100
duringd Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Serious issues, this one! I find they help my climb better, looks odd on a rise bar, but what the hell! Does not look as weird as all white MTB kit!
CatGirl Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Love them on the climbs get more contol so that not only your legs do the climbing but your arms as well +1 mens het mos nie net bene nie
amasendeinja Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 ...for hooking on branches through forest single track. ...and bushes and electric fences... very exciting...for the fence! Got f-all to do with cool or not, they certainly work well for climbing and giving you options to change your grip, I've found Specialized BG grips (the winged variety) give are a happy compromise for me. They do make your cockpit look a bit Hyperama-bike-ish when installed with risers though, but everyone to their own.
The Drongo Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Would somebody (Mampara?) please post a picktcha of a Bar-End, so that I get some idea of what the hell you are going on about here. Shot!
