BAILEY'S HI-5:

1. Mielies. We are the only country that calls Corn on the cob, mielies. 

2. Sis man – we use it when we don’t like something or something grosses us out.

3. ASwell - As in "I'm going to have the salad ASwell." 

4. Izzit – it’s normally a response to someone saying something. Anywhere else in the world you'd reply with "Really?" or "Did you?" but here in South Africa it's always "Izzit?"

5. Shame - Hard to describe that one to someone who isn’t South African. It simply fits in everywhere, and often. "Shame, she was so cute singing that song in front of the school." – it’s not necessarily a negative thing.
