The rabbit is going to the river, the 6 elephants aren't going to the river. But, each elephant saw 2 monkeys (6x2=12) going to the river and each monkey had a parrot (12). So, 1 rabbit + 12 monkeys + 12 parrots = 25 animals.ah, but it's EVERY, not each.

To me, however, "Every elephant saw" suggests 6 x 2. A different verb would suggest the same thing: If I said every elephant drank 2 beers, it would suggest each elephant drank 2 beers, not that all the elephants drank the same 2 beers.
