This where interpretation comes into it...

You seem to interpret the blue dot theory from a nihilistic point of view.

Me - I see it more as a relative importance point of view. What happens in one small part of the room, house, street, neighborhood, county, province, country, continent, planet etc might seem insignificant to each of those entities until the reaction on the next entity is measured.

Each to their own interpretation I guess.

I think we're in agreement. The things we do should be done because they are worthwhile and meaningful. And sometimes things are worth fighting for.

It seems though that many others here focus on the insignificance of the earth when viewed from space which just is more consistent with the nihilist interpretation than the way you're looking at Sagan's statement.

But, I thought we should just all get along? What about tolerating points of view other than your own?

All points of view on here, including yours, should be binned

Honest to god I nearly died of anxiety this morning as I realised my deadline suddenly looked unreasonable. So I made a cup of tea and got to work. If I fail, I figured a massive black hole wouldn't open up underneath me.

A wise man once said, "meh!".
