So you are in for $120 dollar a year, for the next say 20 years of photography, without inflation.

But wait there is more - you also need cloud storage as most photographers will have more than 1TB of pics.

So throw in another $240.

But wait ! There is more! You need internet connection to keep it current. A long trip without connection, say a 5 week camping trip and you are buggered.

Nope, time for alternatives.

Went passed 1TB in my first couple of years behind the lens ....

Close to 3TB at the moment.  Actually time to do a massive clean-up and backup ..... keeping the RAW files on the backup drive only, and only low res jpg's on the laptop.

Can you imagine the amount of data required to update the cloud after a week on a photographic safari ....

You dont HAVE to do all of that. Yes its a great option to be able to access all your images from anywhere, but not really necessary for recreational use.

Just stick with the Classic version and you are sorted.

The problem with this eventually the classic will be phased out as they will no longer support it. Any new camera's with RAW will eventually reach a state where they wont be developed.

In other news (nice one Escapee), LR is now online only. LR desktop will no longer get support.

I really dont like the paying every month for the rest of my life to use software.

I also use ACDsee, but what other options are there for converting and editing RAW images?

I’m using Aurora HDR which is a once off payment. Got it for ($179). They initially only supported Mac, but I see that Windows is available soon (or already available - not sure as I haven’t used my camera since August).

There are a few other products by the same developer, and all work on a once off payment. Obviously they release a new version each year, but’s not necessary to upgrade each time.

Thing I like the most is their trial is fully functional, except for saving the file, so you get to play with the features and see the results.

finally a pic worthy of being posted here

I bought my camera with the idea to take landscape photos. Never thought I'd enjoy walking around the garden taking macro pics. f774cd6a982dcea4815f3ce3d7b8b14c.jpg

Marco photos are the best! So fun to play around with too.

My very first photo captured with my macro lens. Was amazed how close you can get to the subject.

If anyone is interested, I'm selling this camera strap for R200. It hasn't been used. Since I sold my camera, I don't have a use for it anyway.
