#cyclist problems!

I have a 32" waist and 93cm inseam and "cyclists" thighs. Finding standard jeans is just not possible.

Tip for the day. Buy bigger jeans and have the waist tailored to fit.

Damn you with your wonderful problem :cursing:  ;)

All my jeans are tight ... hard to find jeans that fit over the legs and without the bloody things then having such a large waistline that you could fit two people in it. :P

Yes, and you too :cursing:  ;)

Vehicle traffic has changed a LOT over the last two weeks !!!

Last week there were roads which was a breeze to commute, hardly any cars

Schools back, and so are the cars .....

Instead of the shortest route I now add in a few extra kilometers in the afternoon ride .... need to find new routes, with less cars.

On the morning when the schools open, it is as if someone, somewhere, flips a huge IDIOT switch.......and immediately every bit of stupid driving behaviour gets activated instantly.  :cursing:

Fortunately my morning commute is way before the school traffic, well before most traffic .... Typically done just before 6:00.

The afternoon commute hits the 16:00 traffic .... and the more extra loops I add the more the traffic increase, and the more difficult it gets to have a nice flowing ride while staying away from the traffic.

Did just over 8km today, but due to traffic lights, waiting to cross safely, etc .... took 48 minutes for this short ride.  As I am doing recovery rides this week (punches the knees a bit last week) I dont mind the slow pace, but the stop-start (not flowing) is not nice.

Still NOT complaining !!  A bad ride still beats a good day in the office :)

The search continues for that nice zig-zag route that somehow misses the traffic ... It may have to dip into parts of Stellenberg .... this may add even more climbs.  This short route already has no level sections.  You are either climbing or decending .... getting better at the longer steady climbs, both for stamina and the knees.

Messed up last week when I got cocky and stood on the pedals and RODE up Suikerbossie and a few other steep hills .... knees are now talking back ....  Hey 2 years back I could not even cycle up half of Suikerbossie, so this IS still a massive improvement for me.

I was so angry yesterday morning.

Some moron in a JMPD car turned in front of me when I had right of way.

If I hadn't slammed on brakes I'd have slammed into them.

If we can't count on Metro at least knowing the rules they're supposed to enforce we can't expect much from anybody else...

So much for less morning traffic ....

NEARLY got wiped out this morning !!!

Coming down Bloemhof road (nice downhill), I am doing about 30km/h.

Car ahead of me slows down for a speedbump - normal to catch up to cars along this section.

And then she "drifts" over to the pavement .... NO, not drifting, she is turning into the Eskom yard at some 20km/h ....

And NO, absolutely no  indicators .....

PS - I use a 800 Lumen front light plus another smaller flashing front light.

And I complained at 0 to -5

I am proud of my daughter in Rotterdam. Despite gale force winds which forced closure of airports and railway transport she cycled to work.

She was blown off her bike once.

Lets keep safe and calm, embrace you inner commuter zen.  :)

My inner everything would have been easy to embrace if I had been turned inside out... :P

If they sort out a school bus system that is safe, it would save a ridiculous amount of traffic.
