Things I've learnt from commuting

Recommended Posts

Been one of those weeks .... finishing the days at some remote site and driving straight home in the car.

I MISS my commute !!!!

Maybe we must make a thread ala 365 out of 365...

I haven't missed a commute this year yet and only one day off the bike

Sucks if one does not have a choice but to drive!

Your core must be made of steel

My core, no, the bike, yes!

My comfort on the steel commuter comes from riding it everywhere every day! Thank, TITS!

I spend some time in office, and a lot out on sites ....

So commuting home is certainly not a given.  DO enjoy it when the opportunity is there !

I simply "feel better" after the morning ride.  Day just start better.

And few things better than WORKING those pedals in the afternoon after a difficult day ...

few weeks back I actually drove to the office, when I could have driven home, for the sole purpose of commuting home.

I have learnt the following lesson.

Commute to work

If the site is not too far away, cycle to it.

If the site is far away, Uber :P

I would have to get seriously fit for those days when I do 100+km during the work day ....

Regularly do more than 200km per day .....

My boss might have something to say about my "travel time" ....  :whistling:

Parts of your commuter bag can be stripped an used to keep your pants up...

3 Months commuting and the first time I forget my belt.

I propably mentioned it in the beginning of this thread.  Have spare underwear, socks and belt at the office.

what are you carrying in your commuting "tool bag"?

  • Pump
  • Rope
  • Tyre Levers
  • Swiss Army Knife
  • Park Tool Multi Tool - been working overtime since purchased at the opening of CWC Store at Willowbridge
  • Chain Breaker
  • Spare Tube
  • Patch and Solution, (inside the box are spare chain links and a valve to pump up at petrol station)
  • Back Up light with spare batteries
  • Chain Lube
  • Surgical Gloves
  • Duct Tape
  • Space Blanket
  • I have added cable ties after this pic.

The only item I have not have to use yet (Fortunately) is the Space Blanket

the rope and gloves for murder?

For motorists in road rage incidents.  When someone wants to confront you, you just pull out the roap and the gloves and while snapping on those gloves you put on this psycopatic laugh.  Normally the debate ends there.

Gloves are great when working with a dirty chain before work

Rope, well I have cycled with frames, wheels, forks and a whole lot of other stuff strapped to my back pack and it also useful if someone has a mechanical and can not pedal ... just tow them then.
