If they sort out a school bus system that is safe, it would save a ridiculous amount of traffic.

Now there's a cool idea for a mobile app. A school bus-Uber type thing, but instead of hailing the Uber you get notified when the bus is near to the stop.

I was so angry yesterday morning.

Some moron in a JMPD car turned in front of me when I had right of way.

If I hadn't slammed on brakes I'd have slammed into them.

If we can't count on Metro at least knowing the rules they're supposed to enforce we can't expect much from anybody else...

Reminds of one of our fellow club members a few years ago that was runover by a Pretoria Metro Cop on a road that I used daily for my commute.

If they sort out a school bus public transport system that is safe and reliable, it would save a ridiculous amount of traffic.

Fixed.

Traffic is bad here in Munich (well propably the worst in Germany), but not half as bad as I experienced in Gauteng under normal conditions.

I shudder to think how it would have been here if people had the same commuting habits as in SA (each using his own car).  Munichs Public Transport system carries 600 000 people /per day.

Noticing lots of cyclists without lights before the sun was up riding along the cycle lane in Milnerton this morning. Probably not commuters.

There's not enough natural light for good visibility at 0520 especially with cloud cover.

Be careful if you come across any of this lot.

The obvious commuters had good lighting.

The nutters on the R27 and then going on to take the Lower Church Street exit. I applaud your discipline, speed and visibility.

My neurosurgeon gave me the all clear after a battery of tests. Hurrah!

I'll be getting a new helmet this week so hopefully back on the bike a couple of times next week.

Starting gently.

These little lights are R10 at CWCycles, buy 15 units and sell them for R20 to commuters you pass without rear lights.

See a lot of commuters on Solomon Mahlangu in the morning without a regard for their own well being.

Running red lights and just not giving a ***k. Nearly took out two this morning and they were looking at me like it was my fault for them not stopping at a red light. And this is becoming a dally thing. Especially early morning (06h00) and 17h20 ish in the afternoons. As if those bibs handed out will help them at all!

I see the same thing in Midrand.

I stop at lights and watch these guys cruise through, and I'm talking about places like New Road or Olifantsfontein.

Another favourite here is they cycle on the wrong side of the road and look at me like I'm the a*****e for going with the traffic flow, and one of us have to 'blink' and move.

It seems that all the look-ma-no-lights crowd is out in Cape Town. All seem to be doing their utmost to remain hidden in the shadows of the early morning, until they suddenly skip the red traffic light and weave through the torrent of traffic. I just hope they are all organ donors.

Yup, plenty around this morning and it was misty! Fools.

Cannot understand their thinking - or lack thereof. It was particularly dark this morning when I left home.

And the riding-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-road crowd is also irritating. If you're gonna do that, stay well away from the road surface.

All the bike commuters from Thembisa who ride on the R25 towards Edenvale/Modderfontein ride facing the on-coming traffic. I guess they feel safer being able to see where the numerous taxis are driving.High speed emergency lane driving is the norm for the taxis when the traffic slows down.

They ( commuters) always move out into the lane when we cross paths with them.

Nice "light breeze" this afternoon ....

coming DOWN Bill Bezuidenhout I could not use top gear and had to work hard to get past 25km/h !!!

still much better than being stuck in traffic

Ja nee kyk, it was breezy alright! You have to actually work to get downhill!
