Little secret: the cheapest coffee, bakery and sandwiches in CT are at Espresso Bakery, just next to the cycle path at Section Street in Paarden Island. The other day I had coffee, a pig's ear and a chocolate doughnut for R20. The quality far exceeds the price. Open from 6:30 to 4pm, but not weekends.

Wish I had a coffee stop on my way to work, but also glad that I do not have one.

My wallet will echo worst than it is doing now...

Beginning of the month everything is la vida loca and a week or two down you have to avoid the coffee shop and take an alternative route

Anyone else notice that it is almost warm enough to cycle without looking like a person from the north pole?

A JBL caught me this morning, so I kept pace with it. Worst idea ever. No wind, but going at it at about 35 km/h on my SS was asking a bit to much. Can feel the burn this morning...

my knees went blue this morning.....so the Western Cape was chilly this morning still, but ja i know what you mean.... i was actually a bit of a pansy and spent very little time on my bike this winter, but oh man it is nice to get my engine revving again.

To be honest, the 35 day off the bike was the worst. I fell into a very deep dark hole called depression. But getting out on the bike helps a lot. It also helps to clear the mind...

Beanies get sweaty when it's warmer, like this morning.......

yesterday I learned that it's wise to take proper supply of spares when commuting on a newly-built, previously untested bike.

Let's just say that Furious Fred tyres are too pansy for a commute......no grip and puncture like a mofo. Thank goodness I have proper tyre plugs.

Ja, those are race tyres meant for smooth hardpack XC races and so lightweight that they have zero puncture protection whatsoever. Meant for racers who want to risk flatting just to save a few watts to win a handful of seconds on an XCO course.

For commuting tyres, have a look at the Marathons (esp. the version with the Smartguard protection). Heavier, but pretty bulletproof.

Also left the beanie at home, just grabbed two buffs. Buff helps a lot to keep some of the nasty stuff in the air out of my mouth and lungs.

Tools are so essential, then one day, you realize that the R350 that you did not leave in the bicycle shop, was worth it after all.

Have not been cycling with leg warmers for two weeks now and this morning dropped the winter gloves and arm warmers and was on normal gloves and UV protectors.

Had a lekke commute with Hof27 this morning - just kept forgetting he's there and sped up, lol. Added some suburban singletrack after seeing him of close to his office, as I was waaaaayyyyy to early to even think about work :D

Quite a warm commute everyday now in CT... Only baselayer and leg warmers in the morning, then normal jersey in the evenings.. its just the dam miggies by sunset beach that are insane at the moment! Cant even count how many i have swallowed!

Getting warmer up here in Gauteng too. Even when I start early (5am), it's already warm enough for a simple base layer or jacket. Definitely not both.

Which also means it will start to rain soon. :-)

After 7 weeks off the bike due to illness and injury i am dying to get back on my bike, hopefully the LBS will have her ready by this afternoon so i can get back to commuting tomorrow. cant wait for the weather to turn to full blown summer again.
