Today I learnt that the cops have no interest in stopping those who break the law recklessly. And would rather harass those of us who attempt to abide by it.

Doing a track stand at a robot I rolled over the line about 30cm about 3 sec before the traffic lights turned green...sap lights and sirens blearing pulls me over down the road wanting to give me a fine.meanwhile 2 taxi stop in the middle of the road almost causing accidents.what the actual

F..k. eventually they let me go saying they may have been a bit harsh.

Whhaattt?  Cops actually pull cyclists off for that?  I am constantly over the line! (still new to the track stand)

I would love to cycle to work, but I just have to walk through my kitchen to be in our offices.[emoji33]

You sound like my missus. She likes to taunt me with the chirp that her morning 'rush hour' involves having to step over the cats as they run into the kitchen for their morning meal.

Apparently so..was very surprised and reacted with the "what me? Nooooo can't be attitude"....wanted to Fine me R1500. ....With no licence plate on a bike and I certainly wasn't going to show my ID.would have given a fake name.

Shows you how little they actually know what is written in the road traffic act. They should actually fine us for track standing as well.  According to law you should stop behind the stop line with both feet on the ground.  But lets not mention that to them shall we? :)

Usually a nice tail wind helps :P

Yeah. I'm looking forward to the race ride home today. Some tailwind action.

I must say I'm loving commuting on my bike. Not only do I save money AND get a little riding in I have a LOT more fun on my bike than in my car. Of course I make very sure all of the motorists see me smiling at every opportunity.

Haha. So I'm not allowed slicks on my tracer and I'm not allowed a cheapie single speed. Is commuting on my DH rig acceptable?

nothing wrong with being a closet hipster :) ... many in our commute group have ditched the fancy bikes for reliable single speed rides.

with the mileage we do every year and a rather flat route, a ss is the perfect bike.

hopefully I will be back on by mid/end this week again, messed my shoulder up somehow (no idea how) and have been off the bike the last week and a bit.

Enjoy the bike, she looks good!
