If it was an honest question, sorry. I APOLIGISE. Its tough, some people say its the toughest addiction, even worse than drugs. I smoked 17 years, but I always went to gym en excercised, and did not smoke that many a say. But,no matter how much you excercise, you always feel short of breath and unhealthy. Terrible habit, and expensive aswell.

Myself and a friend quit recently. Tip from my side, go cold turkey. The sooner you get that *** out your body the better. Patches and gum will only make the ordeal longer.

Eric Clapton explains addiction very nicely in his autobiography.

He tells how alcohol is the worst of them all and the damage it causes for the abuser and all those around them .

Smoking is convenient and to my logic that in itself must make it one of the hardest addictions to kick.

It can be done at work, the shops, home, school, kids birthday party and all that without someone having to be embarrassed by some slurring swinging fool.

That convenience in itself must make it the hardest addiction to overcome because it's convenience is the right seed for breeding dependence .

Clapton explains that to overcome any abuse, one has to stop smoking as well, he feels that by doing o the abuser gets to understand what addiction is and how not to be dependent on something .

IMHO this is the best advise. I tried all kinds of stuff, from herbs to chewing gum etc. But at last I wanted it bad enough to go cold turkey. During those first few days I had some very dark roasted coffee beans (almost charcoal) which I carried around every where I went on the farm. Whenever I felt like lighting up I would chew a few of the beans. The almost smoky taste of the beans, and perhaps the caffeine helped me to get over it.

After 29 Years of smoking I used "Champix" to help.

It worked very well stoped within 8 days of taking the pills.

Took the pills for one course (one month).

The cost of the pills is less than what my smoke cost me per month.

After that the smoking part is all in your head.

But what ever you do dont EVER smoke that ONE for FUN

Those that have quit, Well Done

And those that are thinking of doing it get your "Head" in the rite place.

And if you need help "Champix" works really well

Yup same for me, maybe Champix was the slight crutch I needed but also took me one month on champix and I was done. And like you say the hardest is not even smoking one again, because that will start everything again.

Yip, i can also vouch for champix.

but i must add that its not a magic pill. you still need to get your mind right. the champix only help with the cravings, you have to kick the habit (routine if you will) and for that your head should be sorted.

Talking of  alcoholism, I laughed at a buddy of mine. He decided that he wanted to give up smoking, but when he drank he wanted a smoke, and to tell the truth, he enjoyed his booze a bit too much. So he decided to stop drinking, which he has done, he's been on the wagon for about 3 years now, but he still smokes  . He says he's giving up now though, so I'll bug him until he chucks his cigarettes away.

I once quit with champIx for 9months. Went to a party had a puff and started again. Tried champix again but the 2nd time round it made me have super crap thoughts and I stopped using it. This time I went over to Dunhill white for two weeks and then.started with nicorettes. Today is day 6. My chest still hurts but I can yawn in the mornings without my chest hurting, the weasing is gone and I have a little more energy. Keep it up guys!

I went over to electric 5 years ago, I had tried all kinds of quitting methods before that and failed at various intervals from 1-11 months.

I still use the electric as I dont have any of the negative effects of smoking from it and it made a huge difference to my various sports.

It was possible to be fit and a smoker but there was a definite limit to how fit!

Zyban has bad side effects.

I didnt have any side effects from Champix what so ever.

I could just as well have been taking Vita C

As Mousea say's it does vary. For me I just had nausea from the Champix. Starter kit is less than a months worth of smokes, so not too much to lose. If fantasizing about pulling an Oscar, discontinue use.
