Mine heaps don't count.ย On another technical point, can Gautengers claim to be "mountain biking" in the absence of mountains, or is it simply a case of gravel riding disguised as mountain biking.ย Points to ponder. . . edgarblount Posted May 17, 2023 Share On the topic of us Vaalpense only riding gravel and not mountains, What tyre would you guys suggest for Trans Baviaans? I currently run Maxxis Rekon 2.4s front and back.ย

Low rolling resistance with enough tread to keep the rubber side down and not get caked with mud at the inevitable river crossings. edgarblount, Hairy, devvydoesdonuts and 1 other 3

According to Strava Gautengers are a Lot Faster than "The Mountain Goats". Just don't mislead people to do the wrong things and end up with a bike that goes like an "oxwagon". MORNE Posted May 18, 2023 Share ox wagons made it over the drakensbergโฆthey also cant puncture๐ Iโm pretty sure you can walk into any specialised store or cyclelab even in the big smoke and find some Butchers and Magic Maryโs. Personally I think most of this is just marketing hype, as anyone under 1.7m should be on 27.5 IMO, they are so much less of a handful, and give you more tire clearance. I liked my old 27.5 bike so much that I am considering mulleting the slakline, but it's an expensive experiment if I end up not liking it, which is stopping me from pulling the trigger... for now ย

Also yeah I have heard how lekka mullet is for drops, tight turns and steep stuff, so very tempted to give it a try. I may end up buying a very cheap 2nd hand wheel first, then seeing how it feels, without having to spend several thousandย
