I use my v60 when not using an espresso machine over my aeropress.

try an ABID over the V60, time control without needing to change the grind! a revelation, seriously.

Please tell me more about the reusable pods:-

http://www.truthcoffee.com/shop/bundle/gift-pack-2/

simple plastic device with one way valve/flap. Lid clips open and closed for re-filling. Each one should be re-useable a few hundred times. There is a void where the spikes would normally pierce a pod. so zero damage to machines (unlike some replicas) not that the grind size is hugely important and needs to be tweaked. coffee too bitter/flows too slowly grind coarser. Too fast/sour grind finer. 3 in a pack.

hope this helps?

Looking for suggestions for home espresso. I have a nice Brewtus dual at work but would like something for at home. Not looking to spend much more than R8k... Should I not bother?

Not really worried about steaming milk, just consistent shots.

Should be able to find something suitable for R8k, I picked up my Grimac Mia for about that!

My original Aeropress was leaking between the plunger rubber and the tube so I placed an order with Takealot for the bargain priced Aeropress posted a few posts above. R599 delivered to my door seemed like a good buy (at the time).

Reason for going that route was I had a credit with Takealot that needed to be spent and there wasn't anything else that I needed from them. So it was delivered on Friday and I couldn't wait to get home to make a cup without dribbling coffee all over the counter.

Opened the box and removed the unit from it's packaging and was immediately struck by the poor quality of the replacement. I figured that the QC at the factory must have really slipped! Then I did a side by side check and the differences were quite apparent. I realised then that I think I was served a fake... Missing branding, different materials of construction, bad finishes on the new one compared to my old one

Have a look at these pictures and see what you think:

No visible branding on the RHS and the printing is off centre

Super sharp edge where there should be a taper to allow the plunger to enter

I ended up sending it back and I now have another credit that I need to spend <facepalm> Going to see if I can get a refund.

We bought a new Aeropress recently. Nothing wrong with the old one but sometimes th GF is away on a job and I'm shooting on location so we need two

Small colour changes but the quality was the same. I think you were sent a knock off.

Pretty sure I was as well. Didn't expect to be, seeing as I bought it through Takealot.

Did Takealot accept that you were sold a fake? Or did they ask a thousand questions?
