Coffee machine

Recommended Posts

A bit off topic. V12, do you leave your GS3 on permanently?

Only during the week it comes on at 4am and off at 7am - that covers pre and post ride coffee normally - on weekends/evenings I just turn it on manually.

I find myself making less coffee at home theses days than I used to - benefits of having a commercial machine at the office I suppose.

I looked on this thread, and it has been discussed waaaaay back, briefly.  Can anybody here help with where I can get robusta beans, or black insomnia coffee?

Black Insomnia is from Cape Town but speaking to my local coffee supplier, the owner there has gone through some personal issues so supply has dried up for now. Hopefully it comes right for him and supply starts up again. This was about 2 months ago?

Can I ask why?

I think you know why ;-)

Just been reading up on caffeine intake and which has more caffeine.  Seems like those are the thing you need to look for.

Quite interested to also see if it will do anything, cause generally coffee doesn't give me a "buzz"

It is a controversial topic as measuring caffeine content in a bean is not something that is very easy to do... so a lot of the brands base their "strength" claims on strong flavour..

Its more dependent on brew type.

Exactly, fully agree

It does however seem like whenever the robusta gets added, the "buzz" is more.

Interestingly enough, I've found a Tribe blend where they say it contain the robusta bean type, and then Nespresso has quite a few pods that make mention of that.

Other than that it seems like most coffee in SA comes from the arabica bean.

But like you say, this topic can cause wars

Ok, that might explain why you cannot get hold of them.

Buying an automated bean to cup machine.

Is paying a R6 000 premium on a Jura E8 worth it compared to a Seaco Incanto?

I was brought up with Seaco but seems Jura is the machine to have, just expensive .

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi guys. I managed to sell my Expobar Brewtus and am looking to upgrade to something like a La Marzocco Linea Mini or even a GS3. Any chance that anyone on here has one that I want to offload?

I was facing the same decision 1.5 years ago. I decided to buy the Saeco (R10k back then) and I don't regret it. Great coffee cup after cup.

You can buy caffeine citrate from a pharmacy.... you should follow the package instructions.

Bean a while since I posted here.

Setup at home has changed to a Rancillio Silvia Single Group with a Rancillio Rocky grinder. Super happy with the setup.

Still have the Breville Barista Express machine that gets used as a backup when we have people over. It just keeps grinding on after almost 4 years.

Added a Chemex to compliment the Aeropress for travelling with good coffee. Paired with a Krupps grinder.
