No one is saying choose either tonight's ride or the official ride. The majority of us will ride them all but as I've stated before do not want to sit around and wait for a ride to get organised whilst we sit around feeling the way we do right now. I suspect the largest portion of fellow cyclists turning out tonight want to do something for Burry in a way we know best and that is to collectively ride our bikes.

I respect those who would prefer to ride only once for Burry. Can you respect I and others like me need to get out there now and when that ride happens.

I have no less respect for you but are you showing respect for Burry and his family.

Take a look at his and Cherise Facebook pages

Thanks to all who organised a safe mass ride in CT this evening

Agreed.

And to the traffic authorities for directing traffic. Much appreciated.

Most memorable moment (for me) was when we cycled past a restaurant and everyone in the restaurant was clapping.

Yep, did Cape Town tonight, a quiet ride with much to think of. I'll join the official ride too, but I needed tonight to release some emotion. Thanks moonlightmass for organising.

I joined the CT ride this evening along with mrs hairy and little little hairy.

The untimely death of Burry had really weighed down on me in a way I never really understood as I have never met the man yet have always respected and supported him.

Following the ride a weight had been lifted off of me and I personally feel less agrieved and also feel that I can approach further rides and awareness campains with more determination and feel motivated to make a difference.

When / if an official ride is called I will attend and will do what I can to help.

I was impressed with the solemn 1 min of silence at the start of the C Town ride and the huge diversity of the riders that showed up. There were tatooed singlespeed dudes, skinny sponsored lycra clad racing snakes, a couple of BMXers, a guy on a skateboard, many many mountainbikers on anything from XC race bikes to heavy downhill sleds, big heavy guys on bikes that don't get much exercise, kids in trailers or on little bikes, Helen Zille, a whole troop of Songo riders, some pros, both Mtb and road, a couple of really really good looking singlespeed dames, you name it. The behaviour was brilliant throughout, something to be proud of and very fitting on this sad occasion. I hope it will make the mainstream news and raise awareness.
